Branson Fire Department Receives New Training Tower - 02/28/07 11:45 AM
The Branson Fire Department won a grant, awarded by the Department of Homeland Security for a $206,000 mobile training tower. The four-story training tower is collapsible and can be transported by semi-tractor to a variety of training sites. The training tower will be used for training local area fire fighters in the use of rappelling, ladder work, aerial operations, and search and rescue training. The tower is scheduled for delivery to the Branson Fire Department this summer. (0 comments)
Branson To Host NAIA National Basketball Tournament - 02/28/07 11:02 AM
College of the Ozarks, for the eighth consecutive year, will host the NAIA D-II National Basketball Tournament, which starts next week. The highly-watched basketball tournament will consist of 31 games held March 7-13. One of the great new features added this year, is the ability for internet users to watch the games online. In addition to those watching the games on the Internet, officials are expecting sold-out crowds for the week-long event. Branson Hospital Builds A Cancer Treatment Center - 02/27/07 02:14 PM
Skaggs Community Health Center is expanding their services to include a cancer treatment center. Skaggs Cancer Center is expanding upon many of its cancer services already available, such as ambulatory infusions, chemotherapy, outpatient cancer therapy, and medical and surgical oncology. The new $5.5 million cancer center will be 12,000-square-feet and include 10 ambulatory infusion stations, four exam rooms, a laboratory blood drawing area, waiting room, two nurses' stations, physician and staff offices, a CT scan area, and a linear accelerator vault. Branson Set To Host National Car Rally - 02/26/07 10:33 AM
On June 11th, vintage cars built before 1948 will drive through Branson for the Branson Vintage Rally, a five-day race that will take classic vehicles throughout the back roads of southwest Missouri and at the same time raise money for Autism Awareness. Competing in this event, are 75 teams navigating pre-1948 automobiles that are specially equipped for the demands required in a vintage car rally. The teams are made up of a driver and navigator plus support crews that will travel over 200 miles a day. First MTV, now CBS! The CBS Daytime Drama, "As The World Turns", the Emmy award-winning television show, will tape on location in Branson June 6th, 7th and 8th. The episodes will air in July. In the story, Gwen and Will Munson (Emmy award-winner Jennifer Landon and Jesse Lee Soffer) and their friend Maddie Coleman (Alexandra Chando) will travel to "The Live Music Show Capital of the World" to further Gwen's musical career. Governor meets in Branson to discuss state housing issues - 02/22/07 09:24 PM
Missouri Governor Matt Blunt met with a bipartisan panel at the Branson Chamber of Commerce to discuss input from the state Housing Development Commission. Equity in distribution of state funds between urban and rural housing was of primary focus. The meeting held in Branson was the first of three where real estate developers, public service groups, private citizens and homeless advocates are given the opportunity to share experiences and voice concerns for the current state housing programs in place. Branson, Missouri celebrated the grand opening of the new Hilton Promenade in the Branson Landing overlooking Lake Taneycomo. The new 243-room hotel includes an indoor pool, health club, meeting rooms, in-room dining, and the famous Liberty Tavern Restaurant. The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Hilton corporate staff, local staff, government officials, business leaders, Chamber Ambassadors and included a huge turnout by the public. The award-winning Branson High School Band provided the music. The Liberty Tavern Restaurant on the ground floor celebrated its grand opening with a V.I.P. dinner. Branson is being featured on MTV because love is in the air! The famous Branson Titanic museum attraction appeared on the weekly MTV reality series, "Engaged and Underage" starring a young couple from Nixa, Missouri. The Branson episode features a wedding reception of over 300 guests at the attraction for the Nixa couple. During the off-season, the world's largest Titanic museum plays host to weddings as side revenue, but still remains open year around. More affordable housing in Taney County on the way? - 02/13/07 08:18 PM
The cost of a road connecting both the east and west sides of Taney County have been estimated at $25-30 million. The road, nicknamed the "east-west corridor", when completed will be four miles long with the intent of connecting Hollister to Kirbyville. The road will allow Taney County residents an easier route to Branson and Hollister and would clear up congested traffic at the intersection of Highway 76 and Business 65. Along this route, are many miles of flat fields and rolling farmland which may encourage builders to invest and develop more affordable housing for the area. Gerken & Associates Realtors have been serving the Branson Tri-Lakes area real estate needs for 32 years and have witnessed the ever-developing boom Branson continues to enjoy. According to the Branson Chamber, Branson is celebrating its most prosperous year ever with a record of almost 8 million visitors! Visitors to Branson jumped up by more than 500,000 in 2006, raising the number to 7.88 million. The report also showed a 6.6 percent increase in hotel occupancy, which was one of the largest in the United States. All of the Realtors at Gerken & Associates participated in the fourth annual Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors "Have A Heart" Food Drive. The area Food Drive goes to support local food pantries, including the Salvation Army, OACAC, Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake, and Christian Action Ministries. Duane and Kay Gerken, founding partners of Gerken & Associates Realtors, attended the Capitol Conference in Jefferson City along with over 400 Missouri Realtors. The Realtors spent time meeting with their legislators encouraging them to oppose an increase in recording fees on real estate transactions. While at these meetings, Kay led 10 members of the Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors Leadership Academy through the Capitol Conference and meetings. Kay explained and oriented the Academy members of the purpose of the Conference and the influence Realtors have in the legislative process. Bradley Pride and Joni Glessner, GRI of Gerken & Associates Realtors have both been diligently giving their time as volunteers to help the Missouri National Guard, emergency personnel, church groups, and Springfield citizens, chop, saw and dig their way out of the largest natural disaster Missouri has had to deal with. Just 40 miles north of Branson, Springfield was recently paralyzed by massive power outages, food, gasoline and equipment shortages caused by a brutal ice storm. (0 comments)

We took the once popular Bridal Shop next door and knocked out two separate walkways to connect the two spaces.
