Tsk tsk, jealousy is so petty. Small-car rivals Mini and Smart are apparently battling for the honor and recognition of slowly traversing down Lombard. More than 300 Minis drove down the crooked street two weeks ago as part of the Magical Mystery Mini Tour. Smart Car critical mass, the competition is on. [NR Today]

Catch 22: While more existing single-family homes sold in the Bay Area during August (up about 11 percent from last year) 36.1 were foreclosures. Those ultra-bargains in effect leveled the median home price to $450,000 (the same as May 2003) as compared to $655,000 a year ago. [SF Gate]

Unfortunately it's not shaping up to be much of a boost to the jumbo loan affordability, at least for the moment.
