"The Big Dig",&#160;was&#160;getting underway in earnest.&#160;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Located adjacent to the &lt;a href="http://www.south-station.net/" title="You can get everywhere from here!" target="_blank"&gt;South Station public transportation complex&lt;/a&gt; (Subway "T", Bus, Commuter Rail) and bordered by the Financial District and Chinatown, I immediately fell&#160;for the Leather District neighborhood and it's&#160;historic 1800's architecture&#160;dominated by&#160;brick and beam industrial loft buildings. Originally built for the manufacturing, warehousing and wholesaling of leather goods (the genesis of the name "Leather District").&#160; these buildings still retain&#160;the unique signature feature of Leather District buildings - HUGE ground-floor windows&#160;bolstered by cast-iron columns, designed for the display of wholesaler's goods. Today, these large window surfaces allow the penetration of natural light into office space and high visibility for retailers.&lt;/p&gt;
