Today we walked to defeat ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in Memory of My Momwho was robbed of her life by ALS nine months ago. In her memory, we created "Team Peggy" and, with your help and support, raised over $2,000 to help The ALS Association accelerate the discovery of the cause and cure of Lou Gehrig's Disease, and to provide programs and services that are so desperately needed by ALS patients and their families. I want to start by saying THANK YOU to all of you for your generous support as I Walk to Defeat ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) on May 14, 2011. While many of you know those 3 letters (ALS) that had absolutely no meaning to me...managed to change my life forever when my mom lost her two year battle to ALS in August 2010 which is why I will walk in The ALS Association's Seaside Board... Walk to Defeat ALS to raise funds to help the Association accelerate the discovery of the cause and cure of Lou Gehrig's Disease, and to provide programs and services … (2 comments)

Many may remember my post....Three Letters that had absolutely NO meaning to me two years ago, somehow managed to change my life forever.....where I wrote my mom losing her two year battle to ALS a/k/a Lou Gehrig's disease. It's been 8 months without her and I still struggle through everyday but I agreed to participate in The ALS Association's Seaside Board...Walk to Defeat ALS and am the Captain of "Team Peggy". I know some of my ActiveRain friends have wondered where I've been; some even reached out to me to see if everything was ok. Two weeks ago my life was changed forever........... I can still remember that day in August of 2008 when my parents came to my house and told me my mother was diagnosed with "ALS" (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
