"Gina - Money is missing $$ - anyway you can check the lockbox?" - was the text I recieved this morning. I decided today would be a good day to use the "Showing Activity" feature on my lockbox. My client was missing a few hundred dollars (in quarters) from his display jar in the house and wondered if someone had come in during the weekend.
I was curious to see what information I would find; hoping that there had been no activity at all. I did have one showing from a local agent (today) and I decided to go after her showing, read the box and pick up cards.
THANKFULLY - no activity over the weekend; which ruled out any Realtors or any suspicion. Whew! But, interestingly enough I found that one agent had entered on 3 different occasions. Each time was about a week apart. I was not called (per the listing instructions) nor was a card left. Hmm....
Our local board was able to supply me with the office, phone number and email of the agent and I have followed up and waiting for an explanation. Most of us have found ourselves at a home and just ran out of cards - it happens. But 3 times?? I usually call the agent; let them know I was there showing and that I forgot to leave a card or ran out; whatever the case. I've even left my name/# on the back of a flyer as a courtesy to the homeowner.
Not sure what to make of it. I'll keep you posted. I hope this is a good reminder that we all need to extend that professional courtesy to one another when showing listings. I'm just glad the $$ missing cannot be linked to showings!
Any ideas out there??
