A 25 Year Long Foreclosure? - 12/07/10 02:51 AM
A 25 Year Long Foreclosure?
No way? Yep, that's what I said too, until I read the story of this little rebel! The article about homeowner Patsy Campbell, found in the Wall Street Journal, recounted the story of a woman in Florida who has been in various stages of numerous foreclosure proceedings since 1985!! All I could think of was, "wow, this woman has been in foreclosure since I was in high school, and Madonna used to wear a ribbon on her head and roll around on gondolas in wedding dresses". Yeah, I'm not really sure why, but that's what I … (5 comments)

Motivational Monday-Dec 6th, 2010
Why? Because we can all use some motivation to get us through the week. My hope is that you will be inspired and that this provides the impetus for achieving more than you ever thought possible: "Discipline yourself to do the things you need to do, when you need to do them, and the day will come when you will be able to do the things you want to do, when you want to do them."  ~ Zig Ziglar … (2 comments)

We Are SO Spoiled! - 12/05/10 03:51 AM
We Are SO Spoiled!
Seriously people, we are a bunch of whiny brats! Is it just me, or does anyone remember a time when double digit interest rates were the norm, back in the 80's? What about a time, in the 90's, when 6.5-7% was considered to be a "low" rate? If I hear one more person talk about 6% as a "high" mortgage interest rate, I just might scream! I remember buying my first place in 2004, a small HUD condo, with FHA financing. My starting interest rate was 7.5% on a one year adjustable rate mortgage. That means that … (4 comments)

3 Ways To Sabotage Your Home Loan - 12/03/10 09:17 PM
3 Ways To Sabotage Your Home Loan #1- Start buying things using credit or open up new credit accounts! So, what's the big deal? You got your mortgage loan approval. Your loan officer (perhaps it was even me) said that everything's good and we should be able to draw docs soon and close your home loan in a short period of time. So...what's the problem? The problem is that lenders are now re-checking credit reports prior to funding home loans. In the past, this was rare, now it is required. In fact, more often than not, mortgage loan underwriters are asking … (6 comments)

Banks Are Like HMOs - 12/03/10 06:22 PM
Banks Are Like HMOs
This is something I came to realize after reading posts written by Connecticut real estate agent, Gail Robinson, & California real estate agent, Kathleen Daniels, entitled "TARP Has Failed Homeowners" & "BIG-BAD-BANKS- Borrowers Sue to Reverse the Screw", respectively.
In Ms. Robinson's post, she asks why the banks don't help more homeowners, while Ms. Daniels explains the class action lawsuit brought against Wells Fargo over allegations of bank reps encouraging homeowners to default on their loans in order to receive a loan modification. Both aritcles elicit a similar thought of whether banks truly care about homeowners and … (3 comments)

If you're like me, you're always on the look out for ways to reduce your overhead and save money. I especially like things that will cut my costs, without causing any disruption in my life or cause me to have to change my lifestyle in a drastic way. Having said that, I LOVE my Magic Jack, and it accomplishes both goals! While using a Magic Jack is not going to save you enough money to make your mortgage payment, it may help you pay for other bills that are stressing you … (2 comments)

Think Twice Before Allowing Someone Else To Use Your Credit! - 12/02/10 06:25 PM
Think Twice Before Allowing Someone Else To Use Your Credit! So, your good friend, child, mom, dad, sibling, etc... calls and asks if you would take out a loan for them, because they can't qualify for a loan on their own. You're a giving person who likes to help others, so... what do you do? Hopefully you'll say, "NO", and here's why: First, let's consider the various reasons behind this request: Their credit is less than desirable, and they cannot qualify for the loan on their own, or the interest rate would be outrageous due to their low scores. If this … (0 comments)
