Sommerville is best known for Lake Somerville which strecthes out about 11,630 acres with a 85 mile shoreline. Construction on Lake Sommerville began in 1962 and was filled with water in 1967. The state park opend up to the public in 1970. The parks at Lake Somerville offer camping, boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming, picnicing.
