dream interior redesign and real estate home staging oakhurst ca: Roadside wild flowers in New Zealand
- 11/23/10 01:42 PM
It is strange traveling in a land, in November, and seeing wonderful displays of wildflowers and beautifully cultivated gardens in full SPRING bloom. How can spring happen in November? Well, a trip south of the equator will do it. Here is just one of my MANY floral photos. These lupine were wild along the roadside on the South Island. I have never seen so many different colors of lupine (and our local meadows are covered with blues, whites and yellows in our spring) This was splendid! Enjoy!

dream interior redesign and real estate home staging oakhurst ca: Color choices...why bright white?
- 09/10/10 08:19 AM
Color choices...why bright white? With a world of paint color choice available, choosing a bright white is rarely a good choice, in my professional opinion. Many people feel that white makes a room feel larger and that's understandable BUT not necessarily true. This bathroom is a prime example. I know that the seller chose white because it makes a room look cleaner and it's easy to tell the painter, "just do white", but bright white is too bright and glaring. Here is the bathroom in bright white.
I would like your opinion please. This post is prompted from a recent discussion with a client and his son. They are renovating a 1980s home. While discussing doorways, the son said that installing a pocket door would make the house still feel like a 1980s house because pocket doors are passe....in his opinion. This was a situation where I needed to take in a lot of information, to understand their wants and needs before I commented or offered my professional opinion. (Which I did in the end.) BUT...................... What do you think? Is putting a pocket door into a home today, where the doorway (31 comments)
It happens to the best of us ... we get a little older, and signs of age start to creep up slowly but surely. A wrinkle here, a worn out part there, blotchy colors, and suddenly you're tired and feeling your age .... sigh .... it happens. Sellers and Realtors: Staging Education, Part Seven, DRAMATIZE Part of my role as a professional home stager is to educate Home Sellers and Real Estate Agents about the realities of Home Staging. Watching home staging programs on TV frequently misleads viewers and does not impart the details of how a professional stager works and how the staging process plays out. In the Fresno, Clovis and Madera foothill and mountain communities the housing market remains a very strong Buyers market. Using this method a thief can make it look as if you were never broken into. They can get in, take what they want and reset the latch when they close the door.

1. Price 2. Condition · Working with a Realtor will help you set the correct price for your home. Listen to their advice, they know the market and know what your home should be listed for. Don't be a "let's see what happens" seller. You lose that "new on the market" buzz and will lose potential buyers. · Working with a Professional Home Stager will help you with the condition of your home. Every spring we look forward to the beautiful blossoms that help mother nature remind us that winter is almost over. Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers and I have an abundance of them in my garden but they don't stand a chance. EVERY year they rise up, get strong, open and within a day or two are flattened by a spring snow. That happened this morning. I should have picked more of them yesterday. I love seeing them in the yard but that doesn't work here. THANKS MOTHER NATURE for the reminder (16 comments)
dream interior redesign and real estate home staging oakhurst ca: Staged to Rent...Part Two, the interior.

Staged to Rent...Part Two, the interior. When the owner of this beach city home contacted Dream Interior Redesign and Staging, regarding the renovation of his rental property we knew that we had a long-term, major job ahead of us, but we're always up for a challenge and hard work. This property would remain a rental, but the last tenants had been there for 7 years and it was in a sad state of repair. Plus, it had never been updated since it was built in 1978. We painted EVERY surface, installed new light fixtures, added new bath fixtures, new carpeting, new (37 comments)
This 10 lite, sliding pocket door was installed between a new master bathroom remodel and the master bedroom. This style was selected to give the homeowner more light into the bath and a less closed-in feeling. However, the clear lites provided no privacy for whomever was in the bathroom. Also, the master bedroom had large windows in the front of the house and people on the street could look directly into the bathroom, if the shutters were open. SOLUTION: Spray on frosting. Here's the (32 comments)

dream interior redesign and real estate home staging oakhurst ca: Why did I wait so long for this simple yet dramatic change?
- 01/24/10 08:18 AM
Why did I wait so long for this simple yet dramatic change? Well, it's a bit like the story of the shoemaker's daughter or the plumber's wife. I'm always excited to help someone else with changes in their home, for Staging or For Living (Redesign), but I don't always get those projects done in my own home. This is just a hallway so most people would think...big deal. However, as with so many California Ranch style homes, the hallways use up a lot of square footage, so they need some attention.
The fix was easy: 1)Patch the walls as (29 comments)
dream interior redesign and real estate home staging oakhurst ca: No cell service here...should I move???
- 01/24/10 07:26 AM
No cell service here...should I move??? I am joking about moving, but unfortunately NOT joking about cell service. Do I hate it, you betcha, but verizon (the ONLY local carrier) has been talking about upgrading their services for at least the last five years and everything remains the same. Does it hurt my business? Yes, I suppose it does in more than one way, especially since I am a home-based business. Do people understand....absolutely NOT. I did have one agent emphatically tell me that I needed to move and all that I could do was consider the source and nod. Sometimes (13 comments)
Cluttered, messy and less than appealing to potential buyers. They look like this online and they look like this in person. Potential buyers move-on to the next listing and the sellers never know why. This house and others like it are sad houses,
