Ginger Harper

I am so happy that you and your family are considering the Southport/Oak Island area. As you are interested in Southport or Oak Island, I feel I must tell you that having lived in North Carolina all my life, I am very partial to this area and feel we live in one of the most beautiful places in the country. Our temperature is moderate during the winter months, we always have a cool breeze off the ocean during the summer and housing is affordable.

Southport has a small-town homey feel, and yet we have everything at our fingertips, from beautiful ocean and riverviews, to a historic downtown with quaint shops and lovely restaurants. On the outskirts of town, you can find several larger stores (Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Food Lion, etc), Movie Theater, and even more restaurants. Driving down Long Beach Road will take you to Oak Island which offers miles and miles of beach front property along the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful beaches to relax on, as well as the Intracoastal Waterway.

Other possibilities that you may want to consider are homes in St. James Plantation, The Landing, Indigo Plantation and the Smithville Woods/Marsh Creek subdivisions. They are all located in Southport with many properties having views of either the Cape Fear River or the Intracoastal Waterway.

Helping people like you buy the property of your dreams is my pleasure. I can provide services that are above and beyond what you, as a buyer, can do. For example, I have a large amount of knowledge of the area, close contact with what is for sale and what are the best prices for the best properties, I also have a friendly support staff to help things move smoothly. These are only a few of the advantages. Please take a look at my achievements below...

Prevent Swine Flu~Good Advice

Information worth sharing...

Prevent Swine Flu - Good Advice

Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital , Bombay Hospital , Saifee Hospital , Tata Memorial etc.. Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W).

The following message is given by him, I feel makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know.

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected o ne. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4.. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. You never know 20 who might pay attention to it - and STAY ALIVE because of it.

Prevent Strokes

This is very touchy to me right now. I lost my Mother in law on Sunday, due to a stroke..

Maybe this note will save someone you know.

STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.... S. T. R.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics). She said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital -
(at 6:00 pm Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)

(i.e. It is sunny out today.)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Will you?

H1N1 Flu

This may help in knowing if you have the flu or the FLU!

Know The Symptoms of the H1N1 Flu and a Cold

THIS IS A KEEPER TO REFER TO. (Print it out and save it to refer to and pass it on to your friends)

H1N1 flu is about to be upon us and we need to be on top of information regarding it.

Here is a comparison of H1N1 to normal cold symptoms.

Symptom

Cold

H1N1 Flu

Fever

Fever is rare with a common cold.

Fever is usually present with the flu in up to 80% of all flu cases. A temperature of 100°F or higher for 3 to 4 days is associated with the flu.

Coughing

A hacking, productive (mucus- producing) cough is often present with a cold.

A non-productive (non-mucus producing) cough is usually present with the flu (sometimes referred to as dry cough).

Aches

Slight body aches and pains can be part of a cold.

Severe aches and pains are common with the flu.

Stuffy Nose

Stuffy nose is usually present with a cold and typically resolves spontaneously within about a week.

Stuffy nose is not commonly present with the flu.

Chills

Chills are uncommon with a cold.

60% of people who have the flu experience chills.

Tiredness

Tiredness is fairly mild with a cold.

Tiredness is moderate to severe with the flu.

Sneezing

Sneezing is commonly present with a cold.

Sneezing is not common with the flu.

Sudden Symptoms

Cold symptoms tend to develop over a few days.

The flu has a rapid onset within 3-6 hours. The flu hits hard and includes sudden symptoms like high fever, aches and pains.

Headache

A headache is fairly uncommon with a cold.

A headache is very common with the flu, and is present in 80% of flu cases.

Sore Throat

Sore throat is almost always present with a cold.

Sore throat is not commonly present with the flu.

Chest Discomfort

Chest discomfort is mild to moderate with a cold.

Chest discomfort is often severe with the flu.

The only way to stop the spread of the epidemic is to spread the awareness.

Going home today to see my husband and daughter and grandchildren. I have missed them so.

I have been in Durham with my 92 year old Mother in law while she has been in the hospital for the past two
weeks. She is getting somewhat better and I feel that I can take a break.

Folks in Durham have been very good to work with ...Duke Hospital has some marvelous Doctors.

Take care,

Gray Day in Durham

It is a gray day in Durham but I feel Sunny inside. My Mother in Law is getting somewhat better from a stroke that she had on
Tuesday. I have never been around a stroke victum before and am learning much about do's and don'ts.

Have you had to deal with this in your life? It appears that the stroke has affected her speech and comprehension.

We are learning what we need to do to help her come back as far as she can come.

Take care,

We have been busy with a Mother that has had to be hospitalized at Duke Hospital. She has been a resident as Croasdaile Village Retirement Community.

She helped to create this retirement community and felt that she had to come here and leave beautiful Southport North Carolina.

She is now 92 and had been doing very well. We are much concerned with her health now.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

How do you become a Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac listing agent?

I have been going through websites and signing up to do BPO and REO. It seems like I may get one a week. But i need to list properties in the area that are being sold by Freddie or Fannie.

I do not know where to get in touch with them to sign up.

Do you know? and if you do...will you please point me in the right direction?

All help needed to begin this process.

Take care,

7. Bankruptcy Attorney working with one of the sellers....Closing Attorney with the other seller.

8. Closing Secretary..out sick with the flu

9. Buyer having to bring money to the table for the seller..

The list goes on and on. Committment from the 1st lein holder and the 2nd lein holder agree that
