There are lots of third-party filters you can install for PSE that will turn your photos into watercolors, pencil drawings, oil paintings, etc.  My personal favorite is Topaz Simplify - I used it to turn this

But you can also get some pretty neat effects using the tools already built into Photoshop Elements - here's one:

It's not really easy to give step-by-step instructions for something like this because the effects of the filters are going to be different depending on the size, features and colors in the photo.  But this will get you started:

Almost heaven ... Virginia (Round Hill to be exact) - 04/14/10 01:02 PM
As a real estate photographer (in addition to being a real estate agent), I love using photos to show off properties to their best advantage.  This one wasn't even a challenge ... all I had to do was point my camera in any direction and be rewarded with a beautiful picture.  It's a small (8 acres) farm in Round Hill, Virginia ... they no longer have horses, but still have goats and chickens (the owner insisted I take a dozen fresh eggs when I left!).  Some days I just love my job!

Well, almost free ... you do have to buy the domain name ($6.99 at www.1and1.com). 
I recently had a request from a FSBO seller in Maryland to take photos of her home; since I'm only licensed in Virginia, I couldn't try to convince her to list with me :-)  In addition to photos, she also wanted a website to showcase her home.  I checked out several of the more well known providers, but most of them start at $50 and skyrocket from there.  I also considered using Postlets Pro ($10), but I couldn't find a way to create the posting under my … (8 comments)

Herbert the Frog takes a bath :-) - 04/02/10 07:57 PM
We went to Meadows Farms nursery today to start our herb garden - while we were there, we found Herbert the Frog and had to bring him home.  (By the way, his tag said his name was Herbert but, considering we were shopping for herbs, he was pretty aptly named!)  After considering several locations for him on our deck, we decided he looked most at home as a centerpiece in the bird bath. Can you look at him and not laugh out loud??!!
