arizona news and community: Maricopa County Assessor: Double Taxation for Processing Situation - 02/14/10 12:36 PM
As a seasoned mortgage professional around the real estate business for 15 years in Arizona, there are 2 months out of the year that I dread for my clients. Those months are April and October. Taxes in Maricopa County are a lien item on real property January 1st of every year, but our county makes us pay taxes in arrears. So the tax bills are as follows: 1st Half Taxes for January 1 thru June 30 are due on October 1 of every year and late with penalties on November 1. 2nd Half Taxes for July 1 thru December 31 are due on April 1 of the following year and

arizona news and community: Let's Solve a Problem with a Problem: That's how we do it in Arizona! - 06/24/08 06:24 PM
Attention Arizona Taxpayers: Be prepared for the biggest bamboozle to hit your wallet within the year. If you are not aware of this, please turn down the radio and listen closely. Arizona is having a huge budget problem and the way our Governor and our State Legislators want to deal with this is to RAISE TAXES. I just read about this in last week's newspaper. These days' politicians are getting smart. They are deciding to raise the tax that you the consumer will not notice the most. They want to raise the Arizona State Sales Tax. Supporters of this increase argue

arizona news and community: Arizona Cardinals Raise Season Ticket Prices Again - 03/08/08 05:11 AM
I have been a season ticket holder to the Arizona Cardinals since they built the new stadium in Glendale Arizona. You know which one I am talking about, because the last super-bowl was here in town. Do not get me wrong the new facility is state of the art. Its clean. air conditioned and fan friendly. Well about 3 days ago I get in the mail the package to renew my season tickets. Well in my section, my tickets went up by 25%. Now here is the problem with the tickets being raised. The Arizona Cardinals are a LOSING FRANCHISE. They

arizona news and community: Just Bought Tom Petty Tickets - 02/10/08 04:51 AM
How many caught a glimpse of Tom Petty as the half time entertainment. I am sure half the world right? Tom Petty has a quality about him that just attracts me to his music. It's good old American Rock n Roll. Not that I have anything against all the new music, but when I have to plan a road trip Tom Petty's greatest hits always seem to make the cut. What did the rest of you think about Tom's performance and is anyone else heading out to see him in concert this year. My wife got a great price on the tickets. Floor

arizona news and community: Arizona State Sun Devils Basketball open up PAC 10 Play - 01/05/08 08:52 PM
Well Sun Devil Fans, Arizona State University open up its basketball PAC 10 play against Oregon. They ended winning that game and now beat Oregon State today. This is the first time in 20 years that ASU has started with a 2-0 PAC 10 start. Now I do not think we can expect a great season from the Sun Devils, but since Coach Sendek took over last year, ASU has become the most improved team in the PAC. I have been a season ticket holder for over 10 years now, and I can say that at least they are playing competitive basketball. Anyhow, If

arizona news and community: Obama Camp is calling Arizona Democrats - 12/21/07 04:37 AM
My wife got a real call from the Obama camp today, and she stated that the person was not a recording. Arizona in the last few elections has really become a swing state. In the Past, our State was always considered a Republican state, however in the last 20 years, politics here has changed a lot. I think its due to all the folks from California moving here, but I might be wrong. My wife decided to change from an Independent 5 years ago to Democrat. I always joke that my wife has a tendency to negate my vote, but hey its

arizona news and community: Arizona State Sun Devils Will be Heading to The Holiday Bowl: - 12/15/07 09:35 AM
Well, its official, The Arizona State Sun Devils will be heading to the Holiday Bowl. Considering at the beginning of the season, everyone expected Arizona State to finish 4th-5th in the PAC 10. I am excited to see them play in a nice bowl game for a change and help get their program set for bigger events in years to come. We all can thank the Rose Bowl Committee for NOT getting ASU into a BCS Bowl game. The Rose Bowl Committee needs to wake up and start picking the best teams. They did their job by putting USC in their pick, but

arizona news and community: Well, The Feds Might Have Opened Up Pandoras Box! - 12/06/07 02:40 PM
I just got this email, from a client of mine. He just got word that the Feds are going to bail out homeowners who cannot make their mortgage payments due to a reset in Rate. I am wondering if this will set a huge amount of people off. Here is his email: Just joking, but should I stop paying my mortgage go into default so I can freeze my interest rate. I think that's a crock of *$#%&% that people get bailed out that can't pay their mortgage while people like me who are responsible get screwed up the @$$. Gotta love

arizona news and community: Arizona State Football: Bowl Eligible and Possibly a BCS Bowl Game - 12/02/07 12:31 PM
Arizona State football team won the Territorial Cup last night against their arch rival Arizona and finished their regular season 10-2 and 2nd in PAC 10 play. Now its up to the BCS committee to determine if ASU has what it takes to play in a BCS bowl game this year. With Hawaii winning last night, its starting to look slimmer for Arizona State's chance but hey they will still get invited to a nice bowl game.

arizona news and community: Tempe Marketplace is a Great New Addition to our City - 11/29/07 11:44 PM
Well if you have not ventured over to Tempe Marketplace now is the time to go. Almost all the shops are open the restaurants and entertainment are great. Dave and Busters and the New Harkins Theatre are just a few of the many new amenities this shopping facility has. My good friend Chistoph Schweigeralso wrote a great post about the redevelopment of this piece of land: Tempe Marektplace: The District at Tempe Marketplace is kicking it up for the Holiday Season! Anyhow, I have seen 2 concerts and 4 films at this new shopping facility and had lunch there the other day. If you

arizona news and community: My Arizona Cardinals: Spoiler team of the Century! - 11/14/07 12:05 AM
Ok Arizona Cardinal fans, I am not going to tell you that this team has the true potential of making it to the playoffs. Heck we are (4-5), 1 game back behind Seattle and this team still has not clicked on all cylinders. This team, however, is impressing me this year by showing that they have the potential to play against the toughest teams and find a way to win. This year 3 of our 4 wins were against tough opponents with winning records. They show up to our house with opposing colors, talk trash, get rowdy and leave the game with

arizona news and community: Arizona State Sun Devil Football Update: - 11/13/07 11:51 PM
The Arizona State Sun Devil Football program found another way to win on Saturday beating a tough opponent against the UCLA Bruins. ASU now has a record of (9-1) for the season, 2nd in the PAC 10 and is ranked 8th in the country. With only 2 games to go, and USC being the next opponent, is ASU making a run at the Rose Bowl? I do not want to jinx my team, but if ASU beats USC at home, and beats their arch enemy UofA 10 days later, ASU will be heading to a big bowl game. Here is how things are coming together.

arizona news and community: Arizona State Sun Devils Kicked Off its Basketball Season Today - 11/03/07 11:55 PM
Well Sun Devil Fans, today Arizona State kicked off their basketball season playing an exhibition game against in town Grand Canyon University. I was at the game, and the Devils won the game 80-53. The top scorer was Freshman guard James Harden. With a great recruiting class from 2nd year head coach Herb Sendek, we should expect a better season then last. Season tickets are still available and there really is not a bad seat in the house. So I hope to see you at a game in the future. GO DEVILS!!

arizona news and community: GET MOTIVATED? or GET SCAMMED? - 10/31/07 12:08 AM
Phoenix, Arizona Today I went to the GET MOTIVATED! event presented by Peter and Tamara Lowe at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix. This event comes into town about once a year, and the event is your normal inspirational, motivational speaker event to re-energize the batteries. Now, I really enjoy these events, and this year they had some great speakers. The 6 big headliners were Brian Tracy, Suze Orman, Lute Olson, Zig Ziglar, Michael Eisner and Colin Powell. My favorite speaker is still Zig Ziglar, and except for his deteriorating health, he is still such an inspiration to hear him talk and communicate. This man is powerful, and the

arizona news and community: Tempe Arizona: Movie Review "Michael Clayton" - 10/28/07 04:54 AM
Synopsis Michael Clayton (George Clooney) is an in-house "fixer" at one of the largest corporate law firms in New York. A former criminal prosecutor, Clayton takes care of Kenner, Bach & Ledeen's dirtiest work at the behest of the firm's co-founder Marty Bach (Sydney Pollack). Though burned out and hardly content with his job as a fixer, his divorce, a failed business venture and mounting debt have left Clayton inextricably tied to the firm. At U/North, meanwhile, the career of litigator Karen Crowder (Tilda Swinton) rests on the multi-million dollar settlement of a class action suit that Clayton's firm is leading to

arizona news and community: Arizona State Football is Officially the "REAL DEAL" - 10/28/07 03:36 AM
(Arizona State Football 8-0) Its now official, Arizona State Football is the "REAL DEAL" and has a chance at a national title. I just got back from watching the game, as ASU beat CAL 31-20. Arizona State is now the only undefeated team left in the PAC 10. Under new coach Dennis Erickson, ASU is on a collision course with a big bowl berth. Now, I do not want to brag, but this team is getting it done. At halftime, after a slow start and some really bad calls by the officials, Arizona State was down 20-14 CAL. The Sun Devils came back in the 2nd half to rally and win the

arizona news and community: I will Commemorate my 100th Post with a Shameless Plug - 10/27/07 01:50 AM
(I commemorate this 100th Post with a Shameless Plug) Really our 100th post says a lot about us. It tells us that we have dedicated some real time to writing and getting to know this great real estate community. But really, our 100th post is just another great way to earn another 200 points right. Heck maybe this will even get some comments and make me 222 points. Not sure but we will find out soon enough. Actually I did put a little thought into my 100th post. I knew it was starting to approach and I thought what am I going to write about. Then
