just for fun: Real Estate is About to Come to a Screeching Halt in Auburn, WA!!! - 01/12/12 08:51 PM
Truly! Snow is coming! The world will come to an end in Auburn in three days!
At least so say the weather stations.
The greater Puget Sound metropolitan area is a unique place when it snows. We’re hilly around here and our typical warm ocean breezes prevent us from getting much in the way of significant snowfall, which means most of the cities and towns in our area have a minimal amount of snow equipment to deal with the mess. We don’t dump a lot of sand or salt on the roads. Some … but not a lot.
Oh sure, … (6 comments)

just for fun: Never Too Old! - 01/01/12 11:26 PM
Apparently, one of the signs of aging is when your eldest son calls and says "did you have a good New Year's Eve Mom?"
Me: "Yes, of course! We went to a friend's home and had a very good time."
Him: "So ... what time did you get home? 9:30? 10:00? I know that's really late for you ..."
Me: "No, it was about 2am or so. A bit late for us, but we were having fun! ... and Hey, we don't have to get home to any kids, so we can do whatever we want!"
Him: "You're kidding! 2am? … (12 comments)

just for fun: 10 Ways to Use that Extra "Fall Back" Hour on Sunday - 11/04/11 07:35 PM

Yes, daylight savings time ends on Sunday at 2am. You’ll see plenty of posts reminding you to set your clock back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night … that’s the no-brainer part.
But with a little tongue-in-cheek creativity, I thought you might find it helpful to examine just what sorts of things you could be doing with that extra hour – you know, the one we lost waaay back in March. Here’s my list … feel free to chime in.
Sleep! (Duh! … actually that’s probably what I’ll try to do. We’ll see if the … (2 comments)

just for fun: Keeping Transactions on Course is a Bit Like Herding Chickens - 06/10/11 12:49 AM
My family is new to the world of chicken-keeping. Funny busy noisy creatures those chickens. But inclined to running all over the place when attempting to direct them from one place to another. Block one bird from running off course, then look around and another one has doubled back and is heading back to the pen ... or off to dig up a worm in a totally different area of the yard.
Kind of like keeping real estate transactions on course. Sometimes it takes a lot of arm waiving and shirt flapping to keep everyone moving in the same direction from … (3 comments)

just for fun: Your Computer's Busy When You're Not Looking! - 08/24/10 12:44 PM
Working with real estate on a daily basis, I gotta tell you: "Now and then a good laugh is needed!"
Forwarded to me by a friend, and yet another posting by the folks over at Deviantart.com, this animation is hilarious! Oddly enough, I can truly imagine this going on. Good reason to turn the thing off at night, right? I can just see myself sitting down at my desk first thing in the morning to see gaping holes in the side of my monitor! And, of course, a thanks and a bow to the talented Alan Becker!
(Now I just wish I … (7 comments)

just for fun: The Clutter of a Busy Real Estate Agent - 07/27/10 09:52 AM
I'm fortunate to have a huge desk with lots of drawers, filing cabinets nearby, a reasonably good computer, two printers, ... and so on.
So why is it my desk always looks like a bomb's gone off just seconds before? My best efforts at keeping the place organized and intact somehow tend to fall apart about the time I haveĀ severalĀ open transactions at a time.
I've read and attempted a number of how to keep your desk organized "infomercials" on the Web. I've bought electronic and paper organizers. I've read books. But somehow I still manage to periodically come back to the … (8 comments)
