A break in the weather - 08/25/10 08:03 PM
A break in the weather has finally come to the Mountain Home area!  Here in North Central Arkansas in the Ozark Hills we are used to hot weather in August.  We are also used to it being dry this time of the year.  We had a little cold front pass through the area this afternoon.
When I left the office at 4:00 pm to deliver some earnest money it was roughly 87 f.  I just came in from being out on my deck grilling brats and it is a heavenly 78 f.  Wow, this is priceless here in August.  What a … (0 comments)

Active Rain Success, First Closing! - 08/20/10 11:48 AM
Active Rain Success, First Closing!  I wanted to write and Post this earlier today...I didn't tempt fate, call me superstitious, gun shy, whatever you will.  I never count chickens...I wrote a post some time back entitled Rainy Day E Mail Success which was about an email that I was encouraged to send out.
This morning at 9:00 am.  A couple that responded to me on that email closed on their River House on the Beautiful White River just south of Mountain Home!
We met at the house this morning at 8 am, to do the final walk through.  The fog was … (4 comments)

Ozark Scene - 08/19/10 08:22 AM
Ozark Scene near Mountain Home, Arkansas.  This farmers field and barn stand watch as the deer were hopping first one way then the other as I hurriedly got my camera ready to take a photo.

I used to live near this property and I love seeing the tranquil scenery.  Something about Old Barns...they seem to have a special charm!

I missed a chance to get a photo of the local Roadrunner... beep beep, wish I had been quicker!

Some Days are Easier than Others...Today is a tough day for my lovely wife.  Our youngest son is on his way back to The University of Arkansas where he is a Political Science, International Relations Major with a Minor in Religious Studies.  Bobby is a Sophomore and we are very proud of the young man he has grown into!
Anyone who knows me has heard me talk about the empty nest syndrome.  Our older son Chris is a Senior at The University of Central Arkansas.  I love having my boys home.  They get a bit bored, but that is to be expected.  Mountain … (8 comments)

I am Ready for the fall market! - 08/17/10 08:42 AM
I am Ready for the fall market!  We typically see an upturn in Our traffic of qualified Buyers and Sellers ready to sell starting the last week in August!  The first half of August was actually abnormally busy for some reason.  No complaints from me, I Love being busy!
Baby Boomers from all over America are considering a move to a clean, safe and friendly locale are taking a serious look at Mountain Home, Arkansas.  I love introducing folks to this area.  I am unabashedly biased towards my Home Town.  A slower pace of life for most people.  People that will … (8 comments)

The Power of the Bunt! - 08/16/10 03:42 PM
The Power of the Bunt!  Sounds strange I am sure.  My son and I were discussing a baseball game Sunday afternoon.  It was too hot here in Mountain Hometo be doing any more yard work.  He asked me to watch a message (sermon) delivered by Steven Furtick of "Elevation Church" in North Carolina.  My son enjoys an online worship experience that can be found at www.lifechurch.tv
During Pastor Furtick's sermon he tells the story of how he and his dad enjoyed baseball, and that his dad had coached him as a youth.  I strongly recommend you listen to his message.  He … (3 comments)

Twin Lakes Area Landmark - 08/12/10 05:57 PM
Twin Lakes Area Landmark!  I have lived here in the Mountain Home area for 40 years.  I don't remember this landmark not being there on state highway 5, just north of Midway Arkansas, which lies between beautiful Bull Shoals Lake and beautiful Norfork Lake.  I did not zoom the photo to show the address clearly.  It is actually an address in Waukeegan Il.  Quite appropriate for this beautiful retirement area, as a lot of the residents here moved to this area from the upper mid-west.
When I tell people how to find the 4 1/2 acres that i have for sale next … (0 comments)

Looking For A Great Agent - 08/10/10 10:17 PM
Looking For A Great Agent ....is what she said when I asked how I could help her.  Music to my ears of course.  I offered her my card and asked her if i could get her a cup of coffee or a bottle of water.  As we walked back to my office she started asking me questions about my qualifications.  She asked some very good questions...
How long have you been selling real estate? How long here in Mountain Home? Are You successful? Do You have time to take on another customer? I Love it when a customer has great questions!  She … (9 comments)

Showing, A great feeling again! - 08/08/10 08:45 AM
Showing, A great feeling again!  I have an appointment to show homes today after church!  Most people would not be thrilled to be called in to work on a Sunday.  I Love being busy.  My wife even says that I am grumpy when not busy.
This couple is fairly typical for my market in that they are coming to look at homes with very little time to do so.  They live and work in a different state, but know that they want a home here in the beautiful ozarks.  I work hard to make it as easy for them to look … (11 comments)

Getting Ready to be SOLD, Sellers practical tips. - 08/07/10 11:16 AM
Getting Ready to be SOLD, Sellers practical tips.  I get asked all the time..."What should I do to help sell my home?"  I Love being asked that or several other "seller" questions.  Why?  Because it signals to me that this seller is serious.  This seller really does want to sell....not just "test" the market.
So....Here we go...
Take photos of the interior and exterior of your home.  Look them over...what needs attention?  What would you like to see different if you were thinking of buying this house?  You will probably enjoy looking back at these photos after the house is ready … (7 comments)

Elk viewing season at Buffalo River National Park near Mountain Home, Arkansas - 08/06/10 10:55 AM
Elk viewing season at Buffalo River National park near Mountain Home, Arkansas draws near.  One of my favorite things is to ride down to The Buffalo National Park along the Buffalo River here in North Central Arkansas and park at one of the paved parking areas along the highway to view the Elk as they gather in the fields along side the beautiful Buffalo River.
The peak season for viewing these majestic animals is considered to be the rutting season.  Here in Arkansas the season usually starts roughly the second week of September with the last week of September and the … (2 comments)

Homebuyers' checklist - 08/05/10 07:53 AM
Homebuyers' checklist for shopping for your next home.  With almost 25 years experience helping people find their "Dream Home" here in the beautiful Mountain Home, Arkansas area I wanted to offer a simple list to help folks organize their thought process.  Some buyers are very organized, and some are off the cuff.  This Homebuyers' checklist  should make it a bit easier!
1.  Contact Realtor and ask for references....Really...I love to send my reference letters to potential   clients.  Don't be afraid to ask your agent for a blank purchase agreement (contract) to look over.
2.  Determine Preferences....In town? Lake View? River Front? … (15 comments)

Dependent on the net? - 08/04/10 09:53 AM
Dependent on the net?  I am not talking about the fishing net.  I am all for using a fishing net.  I am talking about....drum roll please....the Internet.
I got home yesterday evening and had a little time before it cooled down enough to do my yard chores.  I took that bit of spare time and wrote a blog postand posted it.  I had time to answer one comment and then it happened....My cable Internet went down.
Not a big deal you say???  I have a college sophomore living at my house this summer, 2 laptops and a desk top that are usually … (2 comments)

This is what I was hoping for... - 08/03/10 06:49 PM
This is what I was hoping for...I was introduced to Active Rain at a Century 21 Regional Rally back in January.  The Broker from Century 21 Exclamation Realty of Rogers Arkansas was extolling the virtues of connecting with agents from all over the country to help establish a referral basis.
At this same meeting there was several other agents that had little to no experience in blogging or social media.  I told myself to make like a sponge and try to soak up all the ideas that I could.
I attended another rally in March and got to know Charles Edwards of Eureka … (4 comments)
