north idaho business radio show: Drug Drop-off Program - An interview with Tarah Neujahr of BGH: Sandpoint Blog - 09/15/11 07:30 AM
I interviewed Tarah Neujahr, Marketing and Communications Director of Bonner General Hospital Tuesday on my radio show: North Idaho Business. Tarah was on the show to talk about the Bonner County Drug Drop-off Program.
One in five teens nationwide experiment with drugs, often perscription that they get from relative's and friend's medicine cabinets. While often the drugs are consumed, just as often they are simply thrown away when the user discovers they don't get them high, or they have a bad experience.
The program doesn't accept needles or liquids, but is anonymous and is a great benefit to our environment.

north idaho business radio show: Interesting cast of characters and events on the North Idaho Business radio show: Sandpoint Blog - 09/01/11 07:31 AM
First up on my show was Jupiter Jane. Jupiter Jane is a mobile eatery in a converted school bus put together by Laura Calvert Peitz and Maria Corsini and friends. I first got to know Laura when she owned the Coit House many years ago. More recently, she was the owner of Dish Home Cooking. I managed the restaurant for them, and after closing Laura was looking for her next venture. Jupiter Jane has some of the same menu ideas Dish had: gourmet vegan, gluten-free, and fresh foods.
We talked about how Joel’s got started: Sandpoint’s most popular lunch Mexican restaurant. … (0 comments)

Also, Sally Dennison appeared with a couple of her cohort artists to talk about the Artists' Studio Tour taking place this weekend and next. Learn more about this self-guided tour at www.ArtTourDrive.org

north idaho business radio show: Panhandle Animal Shelter has a lot going on: Sandpoint Blog - 03/29/11 01:55 PM
Mandy Evans appeared on the North Idaho Business radio show I host on Tuesdays at noon. She is the new Executive Director for the Panhandle Animal Shelter. Mandy was on the show to talk about upcoming events and goings on at the no-kill animal shelter.
Before she got the job she had organized two great undertakings for Sandpoint. Coming from dog-friendly communities, I was surprised to find that there were no dogs allowed in parks in Sandpoint, with the exception of Dog Beach near the Long Bridge. Mandy got the city council to allow, experimentally, dogs in Memorial Park. As of … (1 comments)

north idaho business radio show: The Blue Heron Café near Naples, Idaho: Sandpoint Blog - 03/29/11 01:21 PM
The Blue Heron Café is this great little place almost halfway between Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint, Idaho. Now, you may think, had you ever passed this place not far from Naples, Idaho, "How can a café attached to a gas station be any good?" In fact, one review on Yelp gave it four stars, but wondered the same thing. While this yelper mainly liked the breakfast, I have had dinner there, and my chicken and dumplings for my last meal was the kind of homemade style that reminds one of grandma's house.
That is what Chef Steve Holmes is shooting for. … (0 comments)

north idaho business radio show: An interview with Rick Bishop of American Mattress Center in Sandpoint, Idaho: Sandpoint Blog - 03/10/11 09:09 AM
If you want a better night's sleep, remember American Mattress Center in Sandpoint, Idaho
On Tuesday's North Idaho Business radio show, I interviewed Rick Bishop of American Mattress Center. It is encouraging to hear, in this sluggish economy, that a business is growing. AMC just opened their new location in Post Falls on the corner of Seltice Way and Corbin, and their 4800 square foot showroom in Sandpoint is humming along nicely.
Small wonder business is good. In addition to carrying premium brands like Serta and Paul Dean's superior offerings, they have the expertise to help in that all-important facet of … (2 comments)

Almost a decade ago I started using the services of Pend Oreille Veterinary Services bringing my beloved Samoyed Chardonnay to their clinic. My vet's name was Jerry Lewis, an unforgettable character. Dr. Lewis graduated from Colorado State University and established Pend Oreille Veterinary Service in June, 1964. He and his wife Pat are closely tied in to the community, and while he is a great vet, he is now in semi-retirement and is at the clinic a couple of days a week.
For over 46 years this multifaceted … (0 comments)

north idaho business radio show: Sandpoint Blog: Air Idaho Charters - Those Daring Young Men in their Flying Machines - 01/01/11 07:43 AM
My previous post covered some of the subjects I covered on my last radio show of 2010. Speak up North Idaho is a radio broadcast that covers local flavor, and I interviewed Aaron Roard pilot and Andy Berrey, the owner of Air Idaho Charters. This air service is a new business providing air flights in North Idaho out of Sandpoint Airport.
Mainly, Air Idaho Charters offers flights within a 600 mile radius of Sandpoint, though they would go farther. Andy Berrey pointed out that further than that passengers would be better served through the major airlines. Andy bought the plane and … (1 comments)

north idaho business radio show: The New Hardwood Grill in Priest River: Sandpoint Blog - 07/13/10 03:00 PM
Remember the Power House Bar and Grill? Mark and Sara Clarkston owned that joint until the successful chain Craggy Range took over. When they went belly up, we all realized that maybe that wasn't such a good location. Mark wanted to own the dirt and bought the building in Priest River two years ago July 11th.
They serve comfort food like steaks and seafood, all grilled over apple wood or smoked in the smoker.
Nice kitchen set-up, a dining room that seats 120, and a comfortable and easy access location.

north idaho business radio show: Volunteers, seminars, and a new way to quit smoking on my radio show: North Idaho Business - 12/29/09 10:10 AM
Today is Decmeber 28, 2009, and we had four guests on the North Idaho Business radio show on KSPT and KBFI.
Today's guests were Ryan Bliss from the new store at Bonner Mall: The Vapor Depot, Kyle Mercer from the Garden Company, Chief Robert Tyler of the Sandpoint Fire Department, and my old friend Pat Fecik of Captured Image Video Productions.
The Vapor Depot is a smoking alternative product that uses electronic cigarettes. No smoke, a great way to quit or at least get rid of the cancerous parts of cigarettes and cigars, and is very cool. They started as an … (2 comments)
