Autumn of 2011 found Sandpoint, Idaho being voted America's Most Beautiful Small Town by Rand McNally, and in the winter of 2011/2012 Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort was named the Best Ski Resort of the Season byUSA Today/Rand McNally.

Got up this morning to ride my bike, but then decided people should know what Sandpoint looks like even on a misty day. The forecast for the day is hot and bright, but this morning is cool and the town has low lying clouds shrouding the landscape. We are a community in the mountains after all, so we live in the clouds. Here are the pics:

The first Long Bridge began May 26, 1908, and was in operation until being torn down in the 1930's to make room for a new wooden bridge.
During the Great Depression that the second bridge was built with help from the WPA and finished March 3, 1934. Lake Pend Oreille is a lake in North Idaho, with a surface area of 148 square miles. With 111 miles of coastline, it is 65 miles long, and 1,150 feet deep in some regions, making it the fifth deepest in the US. There have been 51 closed sales for waterfront in our North Idaho MLS region for the time period stated in the last year. While some are indeed secondary waterfront with no views of the river or lake, at least three that have fit this MLS search are on creeks.
Still, that leaves 42 closed sales with direct, boatable access and clear views of the water.

The market is slow, and while statistics are indicating we will see an 18-23% decline in prices this year, waterfront continues to be the one segment that maintains value.
