sandpoint winter carnival: Sandpoint Blog: Pictures of Skijoring - A new event at the Sandpoint Winter Carnival - 01/21/11 06:37 PM
At the beginning of December I had a conversation with Matt Smart from Mountain Horse Adventures on my show: Speak Up North Idaho, broadcast on KSPT and KBFI in North Idaho. Here is a link to that post: http://activerain.com/blogsview/2010504/ski-joring-during-sandpoint-winter-carnival-sandpoint-blog Matt was introducing North Idaho to the sport of Skijoring, which was to be part of Sandpoint Winter Carnival. To learn about the sport, read the blog post. I was able to cover and photograph all the events except this one. To see pictures of all the events, including the Schweitzer Torchlight Parade and Fireworks, the K-9 Keg Pull, and the

sandpoint winter carnival: K-9 Keg Pull at the Sandpoint Winter Carnival: Sandpoint Blog - 01/16/11 02:29 PM
One of the final events for the Sandpoint Winter Carnival is the K-9 Keg Pull. Every shape and size of dog participates, and every age and type of owner urges them on. It is held in the alley beside Eichardt's Pub, and people cheer on the mutts and purebreds, as the dogs commune with one and other. It is billed as just possibly the most endearing event you'll ever attend, and this year didn't disappoint. Here are the pics: Nice sized crowd at the K-9 Keg Pull for Sandpoint Winter Carnival Last year's winner of The K-9 Keg

For the 37th Annual Sandpoint Winter Carnival hundreds of people gathered in Schweitzer Village to witness this Winter Carnival signature event where Schweitzer lit up the night with its annual torchlight parade and fireworks. A constellation of skier-powered torchlights wove their way down the mountain creating a cascade of fire trails ending with a bang with a grand fireworks show over the village and the snow-covered slopes. Every year, Main Street right in front of my office at Tomlinson Sandpoint Sotheby's International Realty is closed off for one of the main events for Sandpoint Winter Carnival for the Rail Jam and Bonfire. Brent Sleeps handles the fire, and there is a DJ and plenty of skiers and onlookers. Great time. sandpoint winter carnival: Bio-Luminesce Fire Dancers perform at Pend d'Oreille Winery for Sandpoint Winter Carnival: Sandpoint Blog - 01/14/11 11:39 PM
The Bio-Luminesce Firedancers have performed for the last five years at the Sandpoint Winter Carnival. They have always performed in the courtyard at Pend d'Oreille Winery. However, in the last two years they have attracted a crowd upwards of 200 people, so this year, the street was closed off. I was there tonight, and though I estimate there weren't more people this year, there were as many as previous years, and we all had a better view and more room. The winery was packed, the rain held off, and it was a good time had by all. Here is a cool

sandpoint winter carnival: Taste of Sandpoint 2011 served up great food and fun: Sandpoint Blog - 01/14/11 12:13 PM
The Taste of Sandpoint started Sandpoint Winter Carnival with food and fun at the Sandpoint Events Center Thursday night. The Sandpoint Events Center at 515 Pine St. sat empty for years until being renovated just a few years ago. The Sandpoint Events Center, otherwise known fondly in our community as "The 9th Grade Center" and "the old Sandpoint High School," was completely renovated by a local family. The historic character of the building was maintained and highlighted in the renovation, and this restored facility is a fabulous addition to the community. To commemorate this occasion, they published a book called Sandpoint School Days,

sandpoint winter carnival: Sandpoint Winter Carnival: Sandpoint Blog - 01/13/11 01:36 PM
So, this is the 37th Sandpoint Winter Carnival. Like many I have volunteered in the past, and now run www.SandpointWinterCarnival.org to diplay how things went for the previous years. For the best pics of previous years, this is the site to visit. This year features two new events: Skijoring at the Bonner County Fairgrounds both Saturday and Sunday and a Country Western Dinner & Hoedown from 5 p.m.-on at Trinity at City Beach. The Hoedown gives us something we have never had which is something to do in town after the Schweitzer Torchlight Parade and Fireworks. Plus, some people just don't want to

sandpoint winter carnival: Ski Joring during Sandpoint Winter Carnival: Sandpoint Blog - 12/08/10 11:11 PM
I had a conversation with Matt Smart from Mountain Horse Adventures last Thursday on my show: Speak Up North Idaho, broadcast on KSPT and KBFI in North Idaho. Guess you will be the first to read that now, in addition to hosting North Idaho Business as well as North Idaho Arts & Adventure, I took over the reigns of my third show this week. Matt talked about a new event for our area, taking place during Sandpoint Winter Carnival January 15 and 16, 2011. The way Matt calls it 1 Horse, 1 Skier, 1 Rope. What is it? Ski Joring. Also

sandpoint winter carnival: Sandpoint Winter Carnival - Schedule of Events - Sandpoint and Schweitzer Mountain Winter Bliss - 12/17/09 10:34 AM
Sandpoint Winter Carnival is a great way to celebrate the winter, with bonfires, rail jam, fireworks, great food, and so much more. Schweitzer Mountain puts on quite the show, and 2010 looks to be a fantastic repeat of the great fun and success Winter Carnival had in 2009. To see everything that happened last year, check out Sandpoint Winter Carnival-A look back on 2009. This year there are some new additions. One is Dine Around Sandpoint, offering discounts and other fun events like wine tastings and beer tastings, at some of Sandpoints finest dining establishments. There are prizes and

sandpoint winter carnival: A little sunshine, a new beginning, a wonderful Sandpoint Winter Carnival. Who could ask for anything more? - 01/24/09 08:49 PM
By Gary Lirette Recently, I reported about a new way to promote a development on ActiveRain: http://activerain.com/blogsview/847148/A-New-Way-to-Promote-Your-Development-The-Midwinter-Art-Fest-at-Dover-Bay This article was before the event. We had high hopes. What actually happened was so much better than expectations. Not only was our Dover Bay shown in the best possible light, we actually wrote up a reservation for a sale, and supported our community and art movement in a way better than we could have dreamed of. Here is what happened, and will be published in the Sandpoint Reader. By every account, the 35th annual Sandpoint Winter Carnival was a great success. Certainly, as
