Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems have become increasingly important in North America much due to the current drive to make buildings ‘green’, conserve energy, and enhance indoor air quality. Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV) and Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV) are HVAC systems that exhaust stale indoor air and replace it with fresh air from outside. What makes these systems energy efficient is the fact that prior exhausting the indoor air, the indoor air’s hot or cold temperature (depending on the season) is used to heat or cool the inflowing outside air.
