Was That a Sign You Just Sent Me, God? - 10/30/10 12:01 PM
I woke up this morning having a hard time getting out of bed. It's a cloudy, overcast day and the temps are a bit chilly. I really didn't have to be anywhere until this afternoon so there wasn't much motivation to get moving. The past few days were dotted with failed deals, more bills added to the already high pile, and the realization that we are nearing the end of yet another year, and many of the goals I had set for myself had yet to be met. What am I going to do? I am disappointed in where I

Are You Holding Yourself Accountable for the Situation You're In? - 10/29/10 10:57 AM
I know I'm stating the obvious when I say the real estate market is tough these days. It's tough for sellers trying to sell their homes, it's tough for buyers trying to get pre-approved for a mortgage, and it's tough for Realtors® trying to make a living. But maybe it's time to start holding yourself at least somewhat accountable for the situation you're in. For sellers, if your house is sitting on the market with few, if any, showings and no offers, talk to your Realtor® about your options. Make it "the" house buyers want to see. Maintain the inside and the

In Case You Didn't Hear, the Rates are Great! - 10/22/10 08:56 AM
I recently started working with a buyer who, after renting for a while, is looking into purchasing a home for himself and his kids. During one of our conversations, the issue of financing and the importance of getting pre-approved came up. I "reminded" him that this is a great time to buy because rates are around 4.25%. His response?? "You're kidding!!! Are you serious?!?" Oops. I assumed everyone knew that mortgage rates are as low as they are. What a lesson I learned! Note to self -- just because I'm wrapped up in the world of real estate and short sales

I Can't Help But Wonder if We're on the Verge of Losing Our Ability to Really Talk to Each Other - 10/02/10 04:18 PM
Something I've been noticing lately is that people are using texting as a means to "talk" with one another more and more. I understand there may be times when it may be better to text someone rather than call them, but to use it as a primary means of communicating seems silly...and sad. Whatever happened to sitting down with someone and talking -- really talking? Whatever happened to looking in their eyes as you talk and seeing the emotion or hearing the emotion in their voice? I know there are plenty of adults who are texting more every day,
