Now that the weather has become so nice, families all across Brazos County are hopping on their bikes and taking a nice ride around our beautiful cities. Now is as good a time as any to teach your young ones the rules of the road and how to be safe while riding their bikes along our city streets. AggieCon comes to College Station this weekend, March 23-25, 2012. The oldest student-run science fiction convention will be held at The Hilton, College Station (801 University Drive East) from 9am-2pm on Friday, March 23rd, all day Saturday, March 24th and from midnight through 2pm on Sunday, March 25th. This is the 43rd year that Cepheid Variable, a Texas A&M student organization, will be holding this annual event. In addition to 24 hour gaming, art show, anime screenings and panels, workshops will be held on corset lacing techniques, how to survive the apocalypse, what to pack in your Go Bag, basic wire work

College Station makes every effort to get their citizens involved in the community. They truly believe that the more involved residents are in their neighborhoods, the more the city will thrive. That's one of the reasons it's so great to live here. I wrote previously about the Citizen University program taking place later this month where College Station residents can learn about the day-to-day operations of their own local government. Celebrate the holiday season by taking in Christmas at the Creek in College Station this weekend. On Friday, December 9, 2011 and Saturday, December 10, 2011, Santa will be visiting Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater (1015 Colgate) from 6pm to 9pm. This Friday, November 11, 2011, is Veterans Day, a day set aside to honor those brave men and women who have fought so valiantly to preserve the freedom we ordinary citizens enjoy every day. A special Veterans Day Ceremony will be held in College Station at the Brazos Valley Memorial for All Veterans (3101 Harvey Road) from 5pm to 7pm on Friday. The city's free Starlight Music Series will be presenting music by Austin-based The Trishas at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater.
