If You Can't Sell Your House, You Could Lose Some Money by Renting Your House - 07/28/11 11:58 PM
This is a good conversation about deciding to rent vs selling your home in this market, making sure you are prepared and ready to rent is a big decision, but sometimes the best option in today's market.
Via Judy Chapman (Koenig & Strey Real Living):
These days, when it’s tougher than ever to sell a house, homeowners are turning to renting as a way out.
Renting may be a good option when you can’t sell, but not everybody is cut out to be a landlord or landlady. And while renting may seem like an easy short-term fix, it may not be a … (2 comments)

This is a great list to start with when you move with children.  You have to really see it through their eyes and work to understand their concerns.  Many times, it is just about asking them questions and soliciting their feelings to help them through the process.  This is a good list of checkpoints.

I'm not selling you a home -- I'm helping you buy a home - 7/24/2011 - 07/24/11 04:57 PM
This is a great way to look at our business.  I too have always believed that I am just someone helping in a very important decision, an avocate and a best friend, not a sales person, although there is nothing wrong with that, my role has always been one of wanting the best for everyone I assisted in a home buying or selling process.  Thanks Tish for posting this information

One benefit of age is the wisdom it brings. That said, the following are some valuable lessons I’ve learned over the years:

Home Buying 101 - Cleaning and Maintaining Whirlpool Tubs - 07/19/11 10:58 PM
A study done by researchers found that 9 out of 10 water samples from whirlpool tubs contained bacteria.  The researchers found fungi and bacteria in samples from both private homes and public hotels and resorts.  The pipes in the whirlpool tub get water trapped in them and these pipes are not filtered or treated.  This produces bacteria and allows fungi and mold to breed.
The worse thing in the world is to decide to take a nice long bath in a whirlpool tub and turn on the jets and have chunky krud come out into the nice fresh water.  If you … (1 comments)

Are You Being "Tested"? - 07/19/11 10:17 PM
This is a great article by my firend Patricia about handling objections in a sales situation tactfully.  We never know who is on the other end of a phone call or a sales inquiry and we should always represent our party with extreme professionalism.
Via Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company Realtors):
At a broker's open today, a group of agents were talking about a colleague who got into big, big trouble with his seller.

Do you verify the credentials of other Realtors and service providers? - 07/18/11 01:09 PM
Add this to your Contract Checklist, we did years ago when we discovered that the agent listing the house we were making an offer on was not licensed.  In Georgia, you must make certain you are working with licensed agents and no one at the MLS here checks this, so the burden is on you as a broker/agent.

How many times have you checked the license of a Realtor who just submitted an offer on one of your listings? What about the buyer's agent showing your property to clients?
