The US Drought Maps have 2 states that are over 80% above D3 Level Extreme Drought and that is Georgia and Texas.  The Drought Levels Range from D0 which is exceptionally Dry to D4 which is exceptional Drought.  Both Georgia and Texas stick out as the most impacted states for drought as of 9/20/2011.  Here is the United States Drought Map and it is real evident when you look at the shaded areas where the drought conditions reside.
What does this mean going into the fall season?  We all need to be extremely vigilant of trees that are dying or dead … (5 comments)

This has been one of the driest Summers we have had in Georgia for some time with very little rainfall.  Severe drought conditions have been recorded in much of the Southern 1/3 of the state and burn bans are in effect in almost all counties in the state.
I saw several older dead trees by the road on my way to a closing today, time to help your trees get through the stress. Since March more than 370,000 acres have been scorched by wildfires across the state.  These are weather extremes.
