mission viejo: The Mission Viejo Where I Grew Up: A Love Letter To My City - 03/23/13 03:43 AM

The Mission Viejo Where I Grew Up

I love this picture! I have loved this spot since I was a little girl. It's actually about at the intersection of Mission Viejo and Laguna Niguel.....at the corner of La Paz and Moulton Pkwy. We used to drive down La Paz to this intersection to get to Laguna Beach, and even when I was in high school, when you got to this spot you couldn't see a single street light.
Mission Viejo is still beautiful. The manicured lawns and landscaped streets still sit in the shadow of Saddleback Mountain...but it's … (9 comments)

mission viejo: Mission Viejo Refuses "Fall" This Year - 11/05/12 11:00 PM

In a heated meeting of the City of Mission Viejo City Council Monday, the city leaders voted down "Fall." While residents of both sides of this controversial issue argued late into the night, in the end the decision came down to one swing vote. The proponents of "Fall" cited the obvious advantage of a seasonal change to allow sweaters and baking, in the end the Endless Summer Bloc convinced the Council that extra time at Lake Mission Viejo, Tennis and Pool sitting was far better for our community.
The Council did agree that perhaps allowing cooler weather for the … (9 comments)

mission viejo: Ladera Ranch Is Not Mission Viejo...Don't Be Fooled Online - 09/24/12 02:13 PM

First I want to start this by saying that I like Ladera Ranch, California. It's a lovely planned community. There are walking/biking trails adjacent to every home, lush parks and amenities...even a water park for the residents.
But it's NOT Mission Viejo!
I don't mean that as a "moral" equivalent (would you classify real estate as moral? maybe not) but as an actual location. I bring this up because often online this issue is confused. The Ladera Ranch zip code of 92694 is often listed as Mission Viejo.
I have a new client who lives in Michigan and will … (5 comments)

mission viejo: Boundaries vs Barriers - 07/07/12 10:14 AM

We've all heard the expression that "fences make good neighbors." It implies that the agreed upon boundary makes it clear where the privacy begins, so all know how to behave and can interact properly. It's easier to understand these parameters when we are talking about property and land vs inter-personal relationships, and professional ones are even tougher.
Real estate is a very personal business. We can all agree upon this. But the past couple of weeks I've wondered about how much personal information to share with clients. Clearly we need to make a personal connection, but how much … (16 comments)

mission viejo: Mission Viejo Drivers Watch Out....My Son Has His Permit And Is Hitting The Road - 04/30/11 07:36 AM

It might be tough to see but that's my youngest son with....drum roll please....bababababab....His Driver's Permit.
We were a little worried after the first attempt was a misfire...but yesterday he emerged with errors to spare (he could miss up to 8 questions and only missed 3).The waiting was horrible. The DMV is a terrible place to spend an afternoon. What could have taken just a few minutes was a full 45 minutes to wait for results.
We second guessed all his answers and by the time they called his name we were convinced we'd be back next week. In … (14 comments)

mission viejo: Heat Wave Hits Mission Viejo, California - 09/28/10 07:14 AM
Heat Wave Hits Mission Viejo, California
My car temperature gauge reached 111 degrees yesterday. Whew, that's hot. I remember my parents saying that "it was hot enough to fry an egg." So, I tried it.....not exactly hot enough, and the dirt made it unappealing, but still....."hot enough to create dirty, runny, scrambled eggs." Of course, that's a silly saying so it probably won't catch on, but you get my drift.
It was hot!
Today is better....so far a fast check of the thermometer shows only 90 degrees. Crazy how cool that can feel :/. We also have cloud cover, which in … (8 comments)

mission viejo: Mission Viejo Is Hot! Time To Hit The Lake - 08/19/10 05:27 AM
Mission Viejo Is Hot! Time To Hit The Lake
If you are a Mission Viejo resident, you already know the benefit of the Mission Viejo Lake.  A private lake with 2 beaches, boating, fishing and cool water. With temperatures hitting 98 degrees yesterday, this is the perfect time to gather the kids, or the husband, or your friends...and head for the beach. Just down the street.
Unlike the California beaches, this one has plenty of free parking, beautiful white beaches and even an ice cream stand. Summer doesn't get much better.
We hear that the heat will ease up this weekend, but … (8 comments)

"The West Coast has the sunshine and the girls all get so tan" Remember that great song by the Beach Boys? "California Girls"? I do....because I am one :)!
Although I love Laguna and Doheny and San Clemente, there is a beach even closer...at Lake Mission Viejo.
Mission Viejo has a man-made lake and it's just part of the wonderful quality of life you will experience by moving to this city.

mission viejo: School Uniforms On Sale In Mission Viejo | Find Back To School Sales Mission Viejo | School Uniforms Target - 08/10/10 01:16 PM
More and more there are school requiring students wear school uniforms.

I'm sure at first this might sound like a very expensive situation....but it doesn't need to be. The good news is that the school uniforms are pretty standard, so although you might need to purchase a specific cardigan or blazer from the school itself, most likely the basics are going to be widely available.

In Mission Viejo, we have a number of private schools which require school uniforms. This is the best time of year to find them.

mission viejo: Why Buy In My City.....Or Yours? A Love Letter to Mission Viejo - 01/04/10 05:46 AM
Ever think about where you live? I live in Mission Viejo, California. I grew up here! I moved when I was 5 years old in 1966 and we had to drive through orange groves to get to the nearest market....15 miles away. My parents loved the larger homes and larger lots we got by being so far away from everything. I guess back then we couldn't foresee how Southern California would grow. Of course this surprises me since we still have limited land are are close to the ocean......
As I'm writing this, I'm in my home office looking out the … (4 comments)
