I believe most of you know about the new Fannie Mae regulations for borrowers who purposely default on their mortgages. If you do not, one is quite simple. If you “strategically default” on your mortgage, you will have a seven year ban on new Fannie Mae loans. They are using this as a means of detouring borrowers who can afford to make their payments, but choose not to. This is becoming popular amongst borrowers who owe more on their home than it is worth. fannie mae: Buffett Predicts Government will help Fannie and Freddie - 08/22/08 01:26 PM
In a report from MSNBC today, Warren Buffett predicted the federal government likely will eventually need to step in to help, because the troubles of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac seem to be growing and feeding on themselves.
