I've seen quite a number of vanilla homes lately, you may know what I am talking about. White walls, white molding, beige carpet, beige countertops, beige tile. Some of these homes are priced pretty high, but they leave so little impression on a buyer that they are easily forgotten.
While I agree that you should not personalize your home so much that it won't appeal to most buyers I think it's equally important to give your home some personality. The Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, in cooperation with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh and Mainstreets Pittsburgh, will be hosting a Walking Tour of Allegheny West this coming Saturday, October 30th, starting at 10am at the corner of Brighton and Western Avenue.
The itinerary will include a walk down Allegheny West’s main street on Western Avenue, its handsome Victorian residential district along Beech Avenue, and its once-thriving commercial district along W. North Avenue where historic structures await new uses. We’ll see a private garden, brownfield development, and the former Allegheny City Stables.

Fannie Mae and ENERGY STAR have both announced that they will be introducing new mortgage products and/or incentives for buyers that want to purchase an energy efficient home or make upgrades to a purchase. These will be new products from the current Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) and Energy Improvement Mortgage (EIM) that are now available.
The Appraisal Institute also reported that it is training it's members to better understand the energy efficient home and the added value it provides.

Existing-home sales fell as expected in December after first-time buyers rushed to complete deals during the months leading up to the original November deadline for the tax credit. However, prices rose from December 2008 and annual sales improved in 2009, according to the National Association of REALTORS® For the past several years there has been a lot of talk about where the "bottom" of the market is. The City of Pittsburgh offers 2 options for recycling your tree in 2010.
1. Recycle your tree at the curb by leaving it out on your designated recycling day during the month of January.

The Westmoreland Conservancy sponsors 20 drop-off sites throughout Westmoreland County where you can take your tree.
