I wanted to write today about a subject that is dear to me, our environment and the ongoing attacks against the EPA. Recently congress and many in the Republican party (sorry, I hate to take sides but this one has to be called out) have taken to making the Environmental Protection Agency enemy #1 for their perceived role in limiting economic growth through regulation. I feel strongly that their attacks are misplaced and believe that the EPA's work has led to a much higher quality of life which is a major driver of economic growth. Case study #1: Pittsburgh!

Here is a great site for the eco-friendly, The Black And Gold City Goes Green. It's an action plan from the the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative to raise awareness and engage Pittsburgh's residents. There is series of monthly actions, all with little or no cost, that individuals can take that to reduce the greenhouse gases they produce and their impact on our economy and health. The goal is to see a reduction of 5,000,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions.

environment: It's Not About Global Warming - 12/09/09 02:12 PM
It seems these days lines are being drawn between those that "believe" in global warming and those that don't. Well guess what, I am not an environmentalist ("tree-hugger" as some might call me) because of global warming, although it is worth mentioning that I do believe the planet is warming, and I do believe that people do have some effect on that process.
Here are the OTHER reasons that I think green practices are important:
