Celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs- Calendar of Events for December 2007 - 11/29/07 12:12 AM
The Christmas season has arrived in Palm Springs. I love this time of year in the Desert. The holiday lights illuminate the Dowtown corridor, and there is a nip in the air that's quite exhilerating. People here are getting into the holiday spirit, and going into full throttle shopping mode. Last night, my office at Scott Lyle Realtors had a tree trimming party to get ready for the Holiday Lights parade this weekend. If you have never been to this event, it is a sight to see. There will be 89 entries in this year's parade. Here is a list of events to enjoy during the

The Dead are Alive in Palm Springs- Welwood Memorial Cemetary - 11/19/07 07:35 PM
Is there a place in your town that you go by, day in & day out, and have never have stopped there to visit? It could be a museum, a historical building, or even a restaurant that you have not been to. Why haven't you stopped to take a look? Last summer, I wrote an article called "What's in Your Backyard". It was a story about how many places in Palm Springs I have not visited since moving here nearly 9 years ago. My goal for the upcoming year is to visit as many places in Palm Springs, and to write about my experiences.

Exposing Yourself in the Rain - 11/19/07 12:58 PM
How often do you expose yourself to the world? What a provocative question. You and I do it every day without ever realizing that we are doing it. Every day when we get on our computers and start blogging, we are exposing ourselves to the ActiveRain community and the blogosphere. Do you let people see "the real you" or the person you want people to see. I joined Active Rain about six months ago, in order to start on online presence for my business. I knew what blogging was, but I didn't have a clue what I was getting myself into. I started joining the groups

Holiday Balance & the Season of Gratitude - 11/14/07 01:08 AM
The holidays are a time of reflection for me. It is a time to think of where I've been, and where I want to go in the future. So when I saw Celeste "Sally" Cheeseman's announcement of her contest, "Holiday Balance of Time or Attitudes, this was something I could sink my teeth into. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It's a time to give thanks for everything you have, no matter how much or how little. It's a time to celebrate and share your life with the people most important to you. I call this my Season of Gratitude. I celebrate all the wonderful things

Everyday is a Winding Road - 11/13/07 03:40 PM
Here is my entry in Adam Waldman's Inspired By Song Contest: Music has played an important part in my life. As a kid, I use to play the cello & violin. I would constantly listen to each note I was playing for the perfect pitch & consistency. It drove my mother crazy!! I would listen to anything that was playing on the radio for inspiration, or the country music records (Love my Patsy Cline) my mother would play all the time. For those of you that were born in the 80' & 90's, LP music records were round objects made out of

Stay on the Trails: Safety Tips for hiking in Palm Springs - 11/13/07 01:06 PM
The natural beauty of the desert brings thousands of tourists to the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley every year. When I moved to Palm Springs nine years ago, one of the first activities that I immersed myself in was hiking. Being a "city boy" most of my life, I never had the opportunity to go to any of the National Forests or Desert to indulge in this sport. I heard about the Lykken Trail, the Bump & Grind, and the Mecca Hills. I wanted to jump right in, and start exploring everything that the desert had to offer.

Making Lemonade Out of Lemons- A Realtor's Lesson in Getting Back to the Basics - 11/09/07 04:53 PM
Normally I am a positive & upbeat person, but this week has not been one of my best weeks. I could have easily attended my own little pity party of one. For the last year, I have been working on a major home development in Palm Springs. Three of 15 homes are almost done, I've been working on building a client base, and preparing all the marketing materials so we can launch the project. My Broker has a meeting with the developer with his agenda on what needs to be accomplished on the development. The developer tells my Broker that they are pulling

Median Prices Keeping Pace- A Palm Springs Market Update for October 2007 - 11/09/07 03:33 PM
The town of Palm Springs is already in full swing for "The Season". The palm trees along Palm Canyon Dr. are already decorated with the annual lights, which makes Downtown magical at night. This weekend we have the Veterans Day Parade, where the city will pay tribute to all those who gave their lives to protect the United States of America. There will also be events taking place at the Palm Springs Air Museum to commemorate Veteran's Day as well. The Real Estate outlook for the month of October was much better than the month prior. There were 84 homes sold (51

The Turkeys are Coming to Palm Springs- A Calendar of Events for November 2007 - 11/03/07 01:02 AM
The costumes have been packed away, and the candy is still being eaten. Another Halloween has come and gone in the village known as Palm Springs. Jeff and I only had a few trick or treaters at the house, which was a surprise because our little "Wisteria Lane" does not have any street lights. Now it's time to start going through my recipes and start planning the annual Diebley-Watts Thanksgiving bash. The Turkeys are coming!! Actually, my friend Sean and his partner Jason (Jeff's cousin) do all the planning and cooking, we just supply the house. Life in Palm Springs is
