Tonight is New Year's Eve and I always love to listen Ella Fitzgerald's version of Frank Loesser's song, "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" while getting ready for my New Years Eve festivities.  Everyone in town will be getting dressed up tonight and will be ringing in the New Year  2010 at the many venues in the city of Palm Springs.

The natural beauty of the desert brings thousands of tourists to the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley every year. 
When I moved to Palm Springs eleven years ago, one of the first activities that I immersed myself in was hiking.  Being a "city boy" most of my life, I never had the opportunity to go to any of the National Forests or Desert to indulge in this sport.
I heard about the Lykken Trail, the Bump & Grind, and the Mecca Hills.  I wanted to jump right in, and start exploring everything that the desert had to offer.

Residents of Palm Springs Can Receive H1N1 Vaccine Without Appointment - 12/21/09 08:06 PM

Starting on December 21, 2009, Riverside County residents can walk into any of the 10 family care centers and receive the H1N1 vaccine without an appointment.
According to the press release, Riverside County health officials are not limiting the vaccine to priority groups: 
6 months to 24 years of age  emergency and health care workers  caregivers of infants less than 6 months of age  people 25-64 with chronic medical conditions. WestJet Now Offers Year-Round Flights to Palm Springs - 12/18/09 03:01 PM

Great news for Palm Springs and Canadian residents alike.  WestJet has just announced that it will begin offering year-round flights to Calgary from the Palm Springs International Airport starting in June 2010. 
WestJet, which currently offers daily flights to Calgary-Edmonton-Vancouver, will begin offering flights to their Calgary hub on Thursday & Sundays starting in June. 
The City of Palm Springs received over 128,000 visitors last year from Canadian passengers who flew to our desert paradise via WestJet.

I Spent the Night with Barry Manilow in Palm Springs - 12/16/09 05:19 PM

What a provocative title!!!  Only TMZ.com could come up with a more salacious title than this.  Last Wednesday, December 9th, 2oo9, I did spend the evening with Barry Manilow, but so did my entire office staff.  You're probably scratching your head and thinking, "What the heck is this guy talking about?"  Let me explain.

"The Season" is upon us here in Palm Springs and the "snowbirds" are coming in droves to get away from the coldness of their hometowns.  At the beginning of the month, Palm Springs was hit with a pre-winter storm that brought rain to the valley and the air temperature plummeted to very cold levels.
