santa cruz: Santa Cruz real estate sales figures for July 2010 year to year - 09/26/10 08:29 PM
Santa Cruz county still is selling at a reasonable pace. While things are moving along at a reasonable pace values are still the predominant reason for sales. There are some tremendous real estate prices, particularly in condos. The Monterey and Santa Cruz foreclosures are still an active market place with the foreclosure activity in Santa Cruz diminshed in favor of short sales. The Carmel Real Estate market is seeing activity in both ends of the market. To see the latest Carmel foreclosures ( yes they have them too) you will notice it is one that has foreclosures and short sales like … (0 comments)

santa cruz: Pleasure Point Santa Cruz- homes and surf that bring pleasure to all - 05/08/10 07:38 PM
You know I was recently at 3054 Pleasure Point Drive,Santa Cruz, checking it out for someone as a rental. Santa Cruz beach houses sometimes do well as as a dual function. Part investment, and part fun. Many Santa Cruz beach property owners prefer to keep them as second homes, and who could argue with that? Just seeing someone out there having fun on a paddle board or surfing, and knowing you can have a spot to park, and go any time you want, who wouldn't want to make that choice?

There are other reasons that you might want to rent … (0 comments)

santa cruz: Santa Cruz lighted Boat Parade....... is a fun local event to bring the kids to - 11/27/08 03:26 PM
The Santa Cruz Yacht Club is hosting it's annual lighted boat parade in the Santa Cruz, Ca harbor. This event is fun for all and it a free event. As it is done at night, be sure to dress warmly, mittens and scarves. I find that unless you bike there, to bring quarters to feed the meters. I would also advise you to bring a thermos of coffee or hot chocolate and maybe even an umbrella in case it rains. This fun event has boats all lit up in the spirit and colors of Christmas. Santa even comes down sometimes to view … (1 comments)

Online Prescription Writing can save money and lives

I was reading an article recently that spoke of the digital divide in a different way. It is sort of the older versus younger, but in a medical vein. While many see different sides to age and wisdom over youth and exuberance, there can be other factors in your health care. That being said, what is the value of the written prescription? Is it some bed side activity that makes us psychologically feel better when we leave the doctors with our “prescription for healing” in our hands and find value there? I … (0 comments)

santa cruz: Santa Cruz Surf City Lawsuit to end - 01/28/08 08:22 PM
Santa Cruz trademark “Surf City” lawsuit to end.

A Santa Cruz businessman has been fighting to use the name “Surf City, USA” for the past several years. The moniker has been used for Santa Cruz for approximately a century. In keeping with laid back Santa Cruz’s demeanor, no one thought to trademark it. I am guessing the feeling was it was like “windy city” or “motor city” or other monikers that are used for quite awhile and have no particular “ownership” claimed by anyone. While I can’t speak for the aforementioned names being trademarked or not, the point is made.

santa cruz: UC Santa Cruz,Ca professor to talk on improving computer chip efficiency - 01/21/08 04:42 PM
UCSC, Santa Cruz, California professor Jose Renau is to give a talk at the College of Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on February 11th.
The talk is on methods to reduce heat build up and efficiency of computer chips. By employing cameras and thermal imaging this work is proposed to better enable detection of hot spots and power leakage in chips. He seeks to increase the efficiencies by reducing extraneous functionality. By determining where the problems lie, the designers and programmer are better able to make the computer chips more efficient. Jose Renau is an assistant professor of computer engineering … (0 comments)

santa cruz: Doctors penmanship can affect you adversely, but there is help..... - 01/18/08 08:31 PM

Doctors and Penmanship.
Seems that people are always in a rush these days, even here in laid back Santa Cruz, California. We have evolved to text messaging, short cryptic code words and symbols to shorten our communication. When we are in a hurry, aren't we always, we tend to write poorly. Penmanship classes are a thing of the past neat writing is to be commended. A doctor with great penmanship is rarer than a great president.
It always seemed one of the worst offenders were doctors. Yes those hard working men and women in charge of our health often are sloppy writers. You … (0 comments)

santa cruz: The Santa Cruz County population is increasing. - 12/26/07 01:16 PM
The Santa Cruz area has had an increase in it's population this past year of 1.16%. While this is not a huge amount, it is some what surprising as we have had increasing prices. Right now the values are a bit softer and we may see a net decrease as we had in California in the early 90's. To check prices locally, you can go to http://www.cacoastalhome.com. Back then the national economy was the problem. The national recession had hit and California was delayed in being affected. So after the boom of the late 80's we fell on hard times here … (0 comments)

santa cruz: Creating peace.....one call at a time. - 12/11/07 03:06 PM
This is the time of year we all seem stressed. It is the holidays and we are all supposed to feel ebullient and kind to all. One of the ways you can have more peace in your life it to take more control. To that end in a small way you can do a lot in that arena by controlling who calls you and sends you stuff.
Many companies rely on this time of you for their profits and have the highest sales volumes in the last quarter of the year. If you are bombarded with sales people calling you, and you … (0 comments)
