Howard County MD January 2009 Market Statistics - 02/11/09 07:44 AM

The Howard County MD housing market's median sales prices were down from Jan 2008 to Jan 2009 by 14.41%, from $359,040 to $307,300.  The number of home sales settled went from 131 to 119, down just 9.16%.  And the average days on market went from 119 in Jan 2008 to 135 in Jan 2009 - an increase of 13.45%.  Of the 119 homes that sold, nearly half of them (55) went under contract in 90 days or less (and 32 of those 55 went under contract in 60 days or less)  Well-priced, well-marketed homes are continuing to sell!

Thre's an informative new website available for Maryland:  The Maryland State Department of Education has put together a very comprehensive website, allowing the public to search for the licensing inspection records of all the child care providers in the State:  msdecompliancereports.org 

Furthermore, you can search by the provider, or the address, the county, or the type of childcare, depending on what information you have starting out.  This could also be used just to get a listing of an area's providers, with all their contact information and license #, thus ensuring they 1) are licensed, and 2) have passed the most … (0 comments)

Well, here we go again!  Once more, I'm surprised!  Knowing that being a Realtor means also being a coach, chauffeur, negotiator, organizer, educator, declutter-er, stager, decorator, planner, marriage counselor, designer, divorce planner, therapist, (just to name a few!) this should probably not have surprised me! 
I got a call the day before yesterday from someone who's been searching online for a friend who will eventually make a purchase (though the caller bought her own current home in the past year, so won't be buying.)  While searching, and viewing all the online photos, she came across a dining room set she LOVED.  … (0 comments)

Ellicott City and Columbia MD - Some of the Best East Coast Cities for Defense Jobs! - 02/05/09 06:23 PM
Just about two weeks ago, an article appeared in FedSmith.com (for the informed Fed) entitled Best East Coast Cities for Defense Jobs.  Naturally, the Howard County cities of Ellicott City and Columbia were named as two of the important Maryland suburban cities feeding the US Federal Government, the country's top employer, with commuting employees into DC.  However, it also mentioned some of the top local employers - in case some of you get tired of the commute, but still want to make use of your valuable clearances --  such as Northrop Grumman, Merkle, Biodefense Research Group, and URS Corp.
