Yesterday I came upon something that was a great marketing effort by the Listing agent and at the same time a very confused public.
I called a Realtor friend of mine to see if she wanted to meet me for dinner after I finished showing property since I would be near her home.
She laughed and said that she was showing property over around my home. Both on opposite sides.
I digress...
The kicker was that she was going to show a house in Elk Grove that was only $184,000 with a little over 1800 sq. ft.

Elk Grove, CA home owners have been battling over 2 years now, for a Big Box Ordinance. The Elk Grove City Council last week finally adopted a Big Box Ordinance for Elk Grove.
This debate started two years ago when Walmart proposed a Big Box store within a neighborhood. Local home owners as well as other residents came together and demanded that a Big Box store was not appropriate for the neighborhood.

The Elk Grove, CA Promenade Shopping Mall was approved by the City Council of Elk Grove on Wednesday night. The Promenade Mall, an open air mall is set to open October 2008 and provide within the first year of opening 2,500 new jobs for Elk Grove citizens along with a sales tax revenue expected of $4 million.

Last night at Elk Grove City Hall, the Developer, General Growth presented Elk Grove Promenade to those residents attending. For those who were unable to attend...here is what you missed.
Macy's is one of the key stores in the Open-air Promenade Mall along with Barnes & Noble and Cinemark Theaters. Other "major" stores will be announced later as soon as General Growth secures contracts with the remaining stores. The Elk Grove Promenade will be 1.1 million square feet on 107 acres. There will be 120 stores besides the 3-4 "major" stores.

Elk Grove will soon have its first Shopping Mall. No, I didn't say another strip mall...I said Shopping Mall. The target date for Elk Grove Promenade Mall is projected for October 2008. This has been discussed prior to the City of Elk Grove becoming a City in 2000. So, it is safe to assume that a lot of thought and effort has been put into the design, location and retail. There are those who are against this Shopping Mall.

As I was sipping my morning coffee on this auspicious Sunday, I noticed that the atomic clock that is in tune with the satellites up in space did not know that the time had indeed changed. It registered the same time as the rest of the clocks in the house that I had not taken the time to update. The only change in time was on my new Vista HP computer.

This is my town where I live, shop and work. Elk Grove officially became a City the year that I moved from the Bay Area in 2000. Very little housing was in Elk Grove as compared with today...a real boom took place over the past six years. In fact, I believe that I officially heard that Elk Grove was the fastest growing City in the United States which certainly wouldn't surprise any of the residents here.

Today was a great day! The Red Hat Ladies of Elk Grove set out for a ten minute ride to Old Town Sacramento where we took a 2 hour ride on the Spirit of Sacramento River Boat up the Delta.
