There are several important reports scheduled for release this week that are likely to affect mortgage pricing. The first is tomorrow's release of June's New Home Sales that gives us a measurement of housing sector strength and mortgage credit demand. It is expected to show an increase in sales of newly constructed homes, indicating that the housing sector gained some strength. There are only three economic reports scheduled for the financial and mortgage markets to digest and none of them is considered to be of high importance to the markets. But in addition to the minimal economic data, we have two days of semi-annual congressional testimony by Fed Chairman Benanke. This week brings us the release of five important economic reports for the bond market to digest. Several of these reports are considered to be of high importance, meaning we will likely see volatility in the financial markets and mortgage pricing over the next several days.
