A good mortgage contact is a must in this business! I am meeting with one of mine in the morning. It's important to be up to date on rates, mortgage and underwriting issues, and any problems facing the mortgage industry so that you will be knowledgeable for your clients. A great mortgage person also make closings go smooth. Why? I have a guy that had the package at the closing table three days in advance. Oh and did I mention that they give you referrals too.
