hollywood: Laurel Canyon Photo Day - Break Out With Your Hippie Self! - 08/10/11 11:54 PM
Laurel Canyon has a special event on one Sunday in October every year: Laurel Canyon Photo Day. All the residents of our peaceful, mellow, rock-n-roll canyon go to The Laurel Canyon Country Store for food, music and conversation. It's as friendly and folksy as you would expect the "Home of Rock-n-Roll" to be. It's my canyon, and I love it! Once you're here, you never leave. (Remember that line in Hotel California by the Eagles?) Hmmmm... Laurel Canyon Photo Day always ends with a giant group photo during which traffic is actually halted on busy Laurel Canyon Blvd. This has been

hollywood: Hollywood Bowl or Bust! - 07/09/11 08:54 PM
Several clients have called today to wish me a great evening at the Hollywood Bowl. It's West Side Story night, and I am truly looking forward to a great event as we: "celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic film - winner of ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture - as we present a world-premiere event. The LA Phil plays Leonard Bernstein's electrifying orchestral score and memorable songs with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim live, while the newly re-mastered film is shown in glorious high definition on the Bowl's big screen with the original vocals and dialog intact. This classic romantic tragedy, one

hollywood: L.A.'S INFAMOUS LAUREL CANYON - 12/02/10 01:46 AM
WELCOME TO MY HOME, FRIENDS - INFAMOUS LAUREL CANYON From 1912 to 1918, an electric trolley transported visitors to Laurel Canyon from busy Sunset Boulevard below. At Lookout Mountain Road, in the heart of the canyon, travelers stopped for food and libation at a rough hewn road house that was always abuzz with activity. In the early 1920's, a local contractor built an inn the top of the canyon in an area that offered breathtaking views of the growing city of Los Angeles. When the Lookout Mountain Inn burned completely down a few years after it opened, travelers began investing in cabins of

SWIMMING POOLS, MOVIE STARS - PLAN YOUR VISIT TO LOS ANGELES - WE'RE WAITING FOR YOU! Hi Friends - In the past few weeks I have had several inquiries about the top things to do in a short visit to L.A., so I want to provide some suggestions for my out-of-state friends and clients. One really great list The Beach at Santa Monica was compiled by Joel Stein of the Los Angeles Times. This is his list of the best things to do in 24 hours: http://www.time.com/time/travel/cityguide/article/0,31489,1844490_1844431_1844366,00.html Disneyland The Huntington Library Another great list was compiled by Julie Wilfson of

hollywood: MICHAEL J. FOX - BACK TO THE FUTURE - 11/08/10 03:29 PM
Friends, as an actress I had the wonderful experience of working with Michael J. Fox - one of the kindest and most selfless actors I ever had the opportunity to meet. This weekend is the last weekend of the Back to the Future celebration here in L.A. If you are in the area, please take the time to enjoy this great event, as all proceeds go to Team Fox for Parkinson's research. Thanks, and enjoy! hollywood: The Best of L.A. Dining - 10/16/10 03:27 PM
I just received my third call this week from clients who are new to The City of Angels. They all asked the same question: "Where is the best place to eat in L.A.?" That's a hard question to answer, as L.A. is an enormous city with every type of cuisine imaginable. Thus, for those hungry Los Angelenos, or for those of you who are planning your next visit to our fair city, I decided to post a link to the premier restaurant guide. It breaks down the best restaurants by reviews, neighborhoods, cuisine type and cost. As they say at

hollywood: House Sales in Holly-weird - 07/16/10 09:48 PM
Ahhh, summer daze... It has been a wild week on the MLS, friends. The hot summer days must be causing heat stroke in Hollywood. Some of these head-scratchers HAD to be the result of too much sun...or too much Jagermeister. Tell me what you think: House Sales in Holly-weird "Celebrady home" (Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!) "Entertainment comes with house" (Is Uncle Elmer doing standup in the basement?) "Living room with stripper pole" (O Dear Gawd - tell me it's not Uncle Elmer's!) "Former home of B actor" (I'm so thrilled I may toss my bra and rush the stage.) "Malibu compound

hollywood: "Boobies Provided"? The MLS Comedy Tour - 05/28/10 02:47 PM
I've been out of town awhile, but the MLS has not let me down in my absence. Like a confused turkey, the MLS ran amuck again with hilarious misspellings and baffling comments. Thanks to my partner, Patrick Martin, for keeping a watchful eye on the MLS, the LA Times and the L.A. Magazine ads. I also picked up a few in my travels, so I now know Los Angeles is not the only town with a spelling problem (remember Dan Quayle?). Here are my faves: Fools Rush In... "Big spackling fool with new spa" (Big spewing fool with new listing.) "Extra Doom

hollywood: $WIMMING POOL$...MOVIE $TAR$ - HOT AREA$ IN LO$ ANGELE$! - 04/02/10 03:07 PM
THE PRICE OF LIVING IN LOS ANGELES, THE CITY OF GOLD: Hey friends - instead of a humorous look at the MLS this week, I wanted to share something personal - my wonderful city of Los Angeles. Some of the most fabulous homes in the world are here, but one must pay a dear price for the privilege of living on these streets of gold. I am often asked, "What are the most elite streets, and where are they?" Los Angeles is a sprawling city with many neighborhoods, so where is the pot of gold? Well, it's certainly not

hollywood: THREE GENIUSES AND AN IDIOT IN A BAR - 03/12/10 01:37 PM
Hollywood, California...somewhere between midnight and County Lockup: Imagine four people from our industry sitting in my favorite Hollywood pub discussing sales, real estate, and the economy. The illustrious but rowdy crew: Brandie Young, Ken Brand and Paula Henry (bios at end of blog). They were directed to answer my questions in ten words or less. These respected business persons can teach you a lot about real estate and marketing. The other one, moi, is an idiot, but she can show you where all the bodies in Hollywood are buried. Ken, of course, is outnumbered, but as a result, he is enjoying all the attention. I

hollywood: REAL ESTATE IN LA LA LAND - SHOCK AND AWE - 11/06/09 02:35 PM
There is no end to bad taste. Last week after recounting some of the wacky decorating schemes I have witnessed during my time warp in Los Angeles, I received many comments from others who have witnessed "decorating" madness and mayhem in their towns as well. Here are a few more to ponder: Shock and Awe...and Just Plain Weird The mask like the one in The Texas Chain Saw Murders hanging over a producer's toilet. (Obviously intended to scare the crap outta you.) The Halloween display in Laurel Canyon that consisted of a car, under which were bloody body parts and

hollywood: Real Estate - Hollywood Style - 08/21/09 03:53 PM
411 - Call My Hairdresser After a reader read my rant last week, "R U Networking or NOTworking," he challenged me to try a day of face-to-face marketing. (For those of you who cannot recall what that is, it involves getting out of your chair.) Moron that I am, I accepted his challenge and headed out onto the mean streets of Los Angeles to solicit clients. This is the bizarre story I barely lived to tell: 8:00 am: I pop out of bed. (That's early for us showbiz types.) After donning my fake designer duds I head out the door of
