Try looking at the Second Chance Animal Rescue in Daytona Beach Shores!
After having 3 different dogs in my family, I would love to have a dog again and so would Steve, however right now is not the time. We have discussed it and when we do decide it is time to have a doggie in the house we want to go with a full grown pup that is in need of a good home. Over the weekend we happened on a Adoption Clinic by Second Chance at Petco on International Speedway Blvd, and they had some of the sweetest … (30 comments)

No Self Pity - 09/24/07 08:33 AM
I have a lot of ideas this week to share with you, however I saw this gentleman interviewed on Good Morning America last Friday mooring and all I could think was WOW, I want to share this with everyone I can. So many of us right now are in a state of uncertainty, well folks let me tell you something, you know that old phrase, no matter how bad you have it, someone has it worse? This man has an attitude that we all need to adapt, I'm not going to tell you why, I want you to find out for yourself. … (18 comments)

Wildlife Rehabilitation of Daytona - 09/21/07 01:31 PM
Yes, I met a "rehabber", a person that takes in orphaned or injured animals and or mammals and cares for them until they can be released back into the wild or an appropriate home is found.

You knew it was only a matter of time before I did a post like this didn't you?

Steve calls me from work at about 8:15 Tuesday morning, "You have to come see this, a baby raccoon is here at the shop following us around."
Me, "I'm about to leave the house, I'll call you when I'm at the corner so you … (29 comments)

Have You Seen “My Book”? - 09/19/07 01:06 PM
It's Awesome!
Now don't misunderstand me, I didn't pen a book, I'm talking about 'MY BOOK' an external memory device put out by Western Digital.
It's the size of a hard cover book and doesn't take up much room. The one I have is 320GB, the cost? Approximately $130.00. (Amazon.com price)
When my dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday I thought "I don't know?"
Then I thought of 'My Book'. When I told Dad about it, he didn't quite understand until I put it like this:
I have four flash drives with 1MB of free space each that cost 29.00 each,  I'll fill … (37 comments)

I Don't Like Spiders And Snakes... - 09/14/07 11:28 AM
Well...
I just don't like spiders, snakes aren't all that bad...
Only 6 out of our 44 Florida snakes are venomous! These snakes are the eastern coral, the southern copperhead, the cottonmouth, and 3 species of rattlesnake; eastern diamondback, timber and the dusky pygmy rattler.
If you see one of these mentioned, no not approach them, back away slowly. If you find them in a home or building call your local animal control and have the experts come and remove them. (In my 4.5 yrs in FL I've never seen any rattle snakes, however that doesn't mean they aren't right next … (36 comments)

Bikers Descend Onto Pelican Bay - 09/13/07 10:42 AM

On Saturday, September 8th the residents of Pelican Bay, a gated "golf community" here in Daytona had their quiet lifestyle interrupted for a couple hours by the thunder of around 50 bikers and their machines.

They were riding up and down Pelican Bay Drive and in and out of the Pelican Bay Country Club, side by side on their shinning machines, but no one told the residents why their otherwise quiet lifestyle was being so noisily interrupted! Yes, Steve and I were among them.

We were filming a … (12 comments)

Sunday's Ride For The Fallen Hero's - 09/11/07 08:35 AM
Sunday, September, 9th, the Red Knights, Palm Coast Chapt 11 sponsored a "911 Memorial Ride" for All Fallen Hero's. Steve and I arrived about 930 and there was a good turn out already. Everything was very well organized and water was available to us as it was already very warm at 9:30.

I had never even heard of Hero's Park before let alone been there and was very impressed with it. The design had been very well thought out,
each stone dedicated to
Firefighters,

              Law Enforcement,

& Military

were thoughtfully placed across … (17 comments)

VOLUSIA COUNTY BUDGET HEARING TONIGHT - 09/06/07 02:13 PM

Attention all Volusia County Residents! Please attend the County Budge Hearing tonight, September 6, at the Volusia Administration Building in Deland. (123 W. Indiana Ave)
They are asking for as many people as possible to come to help stop, or rather protest the "increase in taxes". Apparently last year at the same meeting, over 600 people were in attendance and they successfully stopped the increase. In fact, the City Council voted for a "roll back rate" instead!
If you do attend, they are asking that you wear red in support of this protest. (if possible) The good people with Volusia Tax … (4 comments)

My Memories From 9/11/2002, The Memorial in New York City - 09/05/07 08:52 AM
Yesterday I posted My Memories From 2001 and told you it would be continued...
Here are my memories of the Memorial in 2002 at Ground Zero.
July of 2002, I called my mom and begged her to come to Upstate NY. I told her I wanted to spend my birthday at Ground Zero at the 9/11 Memorial. She could fly into Albany and we would drive down to NYC the day before and get a hotel room.
She said yes, she would come.
September 10, 2002 Mom and I arrived in NYC and met a co-worker-friend of hers at our hotel. We walked to the garment district and … (21 comments)

My Memories From 2001 - 09/04/07 12:03 PM

Even though it happened six years ago, we all remember what we were doing at 8:50 that morning. Up until 9/11/2001 I always looked forward to this day....

At the time I was living in Gallway NY and working for Reserve America at the National Recreation & Reservation Services call center. The call center handled calls for camping reservations for all parks in the United States run by the Army Corps of Engineers, CA, FL, MA, NY, CT State Parks and the Boundary Waters along with taking hotel reservations for Iloveny.com. The call center was located in a small village in Upstate NY, about 2 … (24 comments)
