Nashville Home Inspection - Proximity of Tree to the Home - 6.13.11
Look at the picture below.  Is this OK?
HINT:  Do tree limbs ever move?

ANSWER:  Yes, tree limbs do move.  Even big ones.  Wind, snow, even rain (weight) can cause a tree limb to move.  This tree limb is easily in range of the chimney.  So it could surely damage the chimney.  But what if they were using the chimney with a fire when the chimney is damaged?  What happens to the smoke and fire then?  Trees should not overhang a house if possible and never a chimney.  … (3 comments)

home inspection: Foreclosed Homes - Lenders, Get Out of Your Cubicle! - 03/19/10 01:06 PM
So my Client for a Home Inspection called me today to cancel the Inspection.  Reason, the utilities were not turned ON.
We all knew this was a foreclosed and bank-owned home, so we also knew the home had probably been winterized.  That means it has the water shut off at the street and the gas is probably pinned OFF at the meter.  At least the electricity was ON.
We ask the Client when they first booked the Inspection to make sure all utilities are ON, so they can get their money's worth in the Inspection.  It is hard to check the … (4 comments)
