kw: KW Set to Explode in 4th Quarter - 07/22/07 10:28 PM
Keller Williams Real Estate is setting the stage for explosive growth in the 4th quarter of 2007. This growth will involve increased national and local recognition, a substantial increase in the number of KW agents, an increase in market share in 2008, and a substantial increase in transaction sides. This is my prediction - AND - here's why: Jim Cronin. Dustin Luther and Craig Proctor are all on the speakers list for Keller Williams MegaCamp 2007. Here is why I think this is significant.

kw: How to Run an Uptight Ship - 05/31/07 05:32 PM
I just posted an article over on The Harper Team Blog that contains a couple of interesting lines out of an email sent to J Rockcliff Realtors. For those of you not familiar with local real estate events here in the East Bay area of California - J Rockcliff is a new brokerage formed when Jeff Sposito did an end run around Intero Real Estate taking five franchises with him. When I read the email, I could only shake my head and drop my jaw at what, to me, appears to be tyrannical management and business policy which can only isolate agents

kw: KW - Mega Agent Production - 04/01/07 04:41 PM
On the front page of the current edition of "OutFront," the Keller Williams' agent news magazine is an article about "Mega Agents" that came over to Keller Williams because of the business model. Enough data has now been collected to throw out some numbers comparing the last full year at their previous agency with their first full year at KW. The most notable figure was a 31% jump in overall sales volume for these agents. First year growth in total units increased 23%. It was interesting for me to read where agents had come from: 34% ReMax; 17% Coldwell Banker; 9% Century 21;

kw: The Wao of Real Estate Success - 03/07/07 09:51 AM
Listen closely Grasshopper... ...your success in real estate is part of the great Wao of life. You alone must walk the path, pass the tests, to attain. The three aspects of the Wao are: Work, Attitude & Orientation. The 10 Great Considerations: You're actually not dependent upon your company for your success. NAR stats reveal that clients choose people not firms to work with. It's your name, reputation and branding that matter the most. The company building, ballon, jacket, and logo should pale in comparison to the radiance of your personal service.Your voice needs to be heard. The best run companies involve their employees

kw: Thank ReMAX for Keller Williams - 03/03/07 10:22 AM
I've finally gotten around to attending a Keller Williams career night. This is a monthy meeting designed to introduce the Keller Williams business model to people considering becoming an agent at KW. At this meeting I learned that ReMAX was actually one of the major forces responsible for the Keller Williams business model. It seems that way back in the days that Gary Keller was running his brokerage office in Austin, a new kid on the block arrived - ReMAX. ReMAX made a big splash in the Austin market with their business model and most of Keller's top agents were walking out

kw: OutFront with Keller Williams - 02/15/07 06:32 PM
In Part 1 of my series on Keller Williams, I had some fun with Gary Keller and the KW business model. In Part 2, I related some of how The Harper Team chose Keller Williams as the place to hang out their real estate licenses (group discount! Just kidding). This segment is “outfront” because that is the name of the name of the Keller Williams in-house news magazine. I’ve gone through a couple of issues to pull some quotes from regular folks like you and me. David Neal (Witchita) is new to Keller Williams. He joined in July of 2006 after

kw: Keller Williams #4 Real Estate Franchise - 02/14/07 05:26 PM
By the end of this year, Keller Williams Realty will have grown from 3,343 (1997) agents to 90,000 agents (projected growth). It’s interesting to hear people say, “Keller Williams, I’ve never heard of them.” It’s a hurdle at times for KW agents – BUT – the benefits far outweigh this minor hurdle (and this will change over time as KW keeps expanding its franchises and market share). I lived in Park City, UT for over 13 years – never heard of Keller Williams, never saw a sign. My brother, Craig, called one day saying he and Tracey had joined Keller

kw: Want Clients? Be the Mayor - 01/29/07 10:43 PM
In our Monday morning KW team meeting this morning in Danville, we had a panel of six reporting on what they felt led to their success. Everyone had some good points, but I thought Derek had the best comment. He talked for a few minutes about how he had all the training, had the good mentoring, had the knowledge and skills - the only thing he lacked was the doing. Like many he got trapped in analysis paralysis for a while. He was spinning in his mind and the office. One day he just snapped out of it, remembering what had made him

kw: Peets, Starbucks, Borders and Barnes & Noble need to WAKE UP! - 01/14/07 02:02 PM
Here I am at Peets Coffee off Bollinger and across from Whole Foods in San Ramon, California. I’ve been coming here off and on for coffee since arriving in San Ramon last August. Today, Sunday, is the first day I’ve brought my laptop along. I thought I would grab a cup, a muffin and a table and peruse the 60 blogs I follow – relax and write a post or two. I had thought I would maybe make it a habit – come here in the morning for my eye-opener and blog. BUT Peets has no WiFi! Can you believe

kw: Open House - Blog - 01/11/07 03:35 PM
I'm sitting open house this morning for our new condo listing in San Ramon and made a snap decision to blog the event. This morning was the first meeting of the year for the San Ramon / Danville Realtors Marketing Association. The meeting was well attended with high energy and great expectations for 2007. We're hoping for a good turnout today, but I brought Change or Die by Alan Deutschman to read if it's slow. After arriving, I realized I could create a blog post around the event so here it is. I've only read a couple of chapters, but it is

kw: What to do when the Grifters come to Town. - 01/08/07 06:16 PM
That's my dilemma today. I have posted a true story over on our site's blog and no title seems good enough to attract the attention it warrants. I finally went simple Real Estate Fraud Averted. It reads like an episode of The Rockford Files. My friend and mentor is the hero of the story. He wants to save you and your sellers from the possibility of having the worst day of your lives. He is one of the great treasures of our Keller Williams office in Danville.

kw: Something for Everyone OR Not - 12/30/06 06:21 PM
So many posts, so little time! The other day I spent hours walking in the Rain. Today it was the rest of blogdom. Take a moment to visit one or two, they're well worth it. From the Tomato - Again, we are thrilled to announce that we have another great article by the our own real estate blogging goddess, Teresa Boardman. Earlier this month she presented her strategy for 2007 with: Business Plan 2007: Blog For Leads. This week she spits in the tiger’s eye: Your Broker/Manager Hates Your Blog Peter Coy at Business Week - Too Many Realtors Whether the housing

kw: KW - Motto - 12/19/06 12:33 AM
This one's for my fellow Keller Williams agents. If you've been reading a couple of my recent posts, you have heard me mention MOTTO Magazine. I thought the MOTTO Manifesto sounded a lot like our company culture, so I wanted to share it with all of you. For the Individual: We believe that people want their careers to stand for more than a paycheck We believe that everyone has the right to seek out the work life that makes them happy. We believe that people shouldn't have to check their personal values at the office door; instead those values should match their work environment. For Companies: We

kw: How MLM - MultiLevel Marketing Prepared Me for Real Estate - 11/27/06 10:14 PM
When I was nineteen my friend Greg’s dad got the two of us signed up in Amway and out into our Georgia neighborhood to sell some soap. Well, that didn’t last long because at nineteen, I had other things on my mind. It’s 37 years later. I’m in San Ramon, California and selling real estate. Did that Amway experience help me? Not really, but several of the other programs I got into in the 80’s and 90’s sure did. The thing about network marketing or MLM is that many people look down on it. So if you’re good enough at it to make
