Mother's Day is Right Around the Corner!
My parents owned a restaurant in Eastern Pennsylvania for 38 years, so I learned at a young age how to cook and bake. 
One of my mom's favorite recipes was Hamm's Beer Cake.   I make this from time to time to bring to the office or to a social event and it is always a big hit.
For Mother's Day this year, I am passing on the recipe that my mom and dad created in the 60's. 
Give it a try.
Hamm's Beer Cake
Cream very well:             
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening

On Monday, I was playing golf at Green Gables Country Club in a league that I joined last year. 
It always amazes me of how hitting a little white ball can take my mind off of work and other things.  I get out there and enjoy the beauty of the course, the friendship of the other three guys and watching that little white ball flying up in the air and hopefully landing in the cup. 
I think we all need to have something to take out mind off of work.  We all need a break or we will go CRAZY.

Today is the first golf tournament for a group that I belong to called FISA (Food Industry Sports Association).  We play every fourth Monday at a different country club.
 
Today's game will be played at Green Gables Country Club in Denver. 
 
It rained like crazy last night and the skies were very grey this morning, but off in the distance I can see the sun starting to shine through.

I have a habit of writing up my to-do list the night before so I can hit the ground running in the morning.
Of course, ActiveRain is always number one on my list these days, and then it is off to take care of all the other real estate tasks and slaying dragons. 
With the recent gas prices, I have been trying to plan my days in a manner that requires the least amount of gas consumption.  Some days this works, others, not so much.

As Realtors We Use a Lot of Gasoline!
Do we all just pull into any gas station anymore and fill up?  I do my grocery shopping at King Soopers and for every $100 worth of groceries I buy, I get 10 cents off a gallon of gas at the pumps. 
 
Yesterday I paid $3.43 for a gallon gas.  Since my car usually takes over 14 gallons at each fill-up, that is about fifty bucks.  I do tend to run the gas gauge all the way down before I stop to fill it up.  My business partner, Belinda, goes crazy when … (115 comments)

Every Monday, we make it a point to call all of our sellers with an update of what happened in the last 7 days and what we have planned for marketing their home in the next 7 days. 
 
So many times, when we take an expired listing, we ask what they liked about their previous agent and what they that agent could have done better.

Spring Has Finally Arrived in Denver, Colorado - 04/08/11 03:29 PM
As I walked around my backyard today, I am finally seeing some signs of Spring.
This means that I will need to get outside and do some yard clean up to get ready for summer.
We have a large backyard with lots of flowers blooming all summer long.  This makes me anxious for our annual Garden Party which we throw every summer.

I have one of the best business partners that anyone could ever hope for. 
Belinda Spillman, she always is there as a motivator, always works great with clients, always covers my back. 
What else, oh, she does most the marketing and works on getting our website up in rankings. 
What else, oh, she lets me drive most the time and makes sure I eat lunch.  She lets me know if I need to dress better. She also covers for me when I go on a vacation for a day or two.
