A Metaphor for Life - 03/31/12 06:21 AM
I saw a man walking down the street coming towards me with a pack on his back. It was really loaded and looked unbearably heavy. As he got closer I asked him what he was carrying around, that it looked heavy. He didn't smile and said, "You know it's just my cross to bear brother." I said it looks like the opposite to me. He went on beyond me scolding me the entire way out of sight.
A while back a friend of ours had a bad cancer and she insisted until the day she died (much too young) that Jesus … (9 comments)

I Wish Everyone Could See This Movie - 03/30/12 08:20 AM
If I had 3 wishes it would be 1. All America seeing October Baby. 2. Ditto and 3. More ditto. It's in theatres right now and although it was shunned by all of Hollywood as "too controversial" (I'll let you interpret that statement), it took eighth in the box office receipts this past weekend in only 390 theatres compared to over 4,137 venues for the Hunger Games. Quite a powerful movie! Please consider it while it's still in to show your support for LIFE. 10% of proceeds will go to help women in problem pregnancies.

Crime and Punishment - 03/27/12 07:57 AM
Most people believe there should always be punishment for every crime. The lastest "crime" being the killing of Trayvon Martin. It is still to be decided as to whether or not this killing was a crime. I personally think it's a crime when anyone loses their life in an untimely fashion. I really don't want to discuss this story but it has raised some questions in my mind about how we feel about punishment in this country.
I would venture to say that most everyone believes in justice; I don't think that's going out on a limb. With today's media though, … (12 comments)

The Lottery and Chickens. - 03/17/12 07:23 AM
I saw this news item that a man who won the lottery had to pay his co-workers who had been going in together for 5 years buying tickets. He said he bought this winning ticket with his own money and not the pool's money. Maybe he did, but his mistake was a 10 million dollar mistake. But that's not what I'm writing about here. I noticed a major human emotion that is a big flaw in many of us, especially in western culture. GREED.
I'm not saying those men didn't have a right to fight for what was theirs. I'm not … (8 comments)

The High Cost of Higher Education - 03/15/12 06:10 AM
My father went to a small private college of some prestige, Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, PA. (Pictured) He liked to use a story from his time there to illustrate a point to my brother and me when our grades weren't so good. He told of the first semester at F&M when he brought his grades home. They weren't so good evidently and his father blasted him with "I'm not paying $350 a year for you to have FUN!" Now he was a "townie" which meant he didn't have to pay room and board. Tuition in recent years at F&M is … (2 comments)

"Why do bad things happen to good people?" - 03/12/12 08:24 AM
I heard this from the mouths of survivors of the last round of horrific tornadoes to hit our country the other week. "Why do bad things happen to good people?" Well it's a bit of a mystery to me as well. Whenever I have trouble defining something I always turn to the best dictionary I have... The Bible. Everything I want to know is in there. What I read is time after time that there are "good" people having all kinds of bad come upon them. Why? Why God?
I'm left with this, these things happen because God wants to see … (4 comments)

Monumental- The Movie - 03/10/12 07:12 AM
I believe this country is at a monumental crossroads. One path leads to a destiny that is the same as Roman Empire and one path leads to prosperity and recovery to be the bright and shining light on the hill once again. Do you know who said this- "A house divided against itself cannot stand."?
Yes it was Lincoln, but he was quoting someone much greater. I think this movie is very important if you love your family and want the very best for it and America. Please watch the trailer and spread the word to all you can.

God is... in simple terms. - 03/09/12 07:39 AM
God is...God is not able to be described in human terms. We don’t have the words in our vocabulary that adequately describe Him or His majesty.Feeble as they are, here’s the best I can do...
He is that smell of breakfast being cooked while still awaking. Good things to come.He is your spouse asking if you want something when you don’t deserve to be waited on.He is that coincidence of running into someone just minutes after you thought of them for the first time in like forever. He is the artist painting the evening sunset and the morning sky.He is the laughter … (5 comments)

Pain is a good thing. - 03/06/12 07:06 AM
PAIN IS GOOD!
Nobody seems to like pain. We do all we can to kill pain and avoid it at all costs. Headache?, take a Tylenol, aspirin or any number of things. Belly ache?, take a Tums, Rolaids or something equivalent. Do your taxes?... well just put it off until April 14th.
But pain is good. Pain is a symptom that is a warning to us. Many just mask the pain and live with it without heeding the warning. Here's what I'm talking about, when you touch something too hot it causes a nerve reaction in your fingers or hand and … (6 comments)

Joy in God’s Faithfulness - 03/05/12 01:29 PM
Seeing the President today with the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made me think of this scripture today. Zephaniah 3:14-17
Joy in God’s Faithfulness 14 Sing, O daughter of Zion!Shout, O Israel!Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,O daughter of Jerusalem!15 The Lord has taken away your judgments,He has cast out your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; You shall see disaster no more.
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:“Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak.17 The Lord your God in your midst,The Mighty One, will save;He will rejoice over you with gladness,He will quiet … (2 comments)
