homes and land of lancaster county: Aaron Knows Who Butters His Bread... - 04/27/13 08:31 AM
The now highest paid NFL player, Aaron Rodgers knows where his strength comes from, it comes from the Lord. He acknowledges before millions just where his talent has come from and takes the time to thank his Creator. We should all do the same. As Coach Lombardi would say, "We are shooting for perfection and although we will never be perfect, in that process, we will find excellence."

Jeremiah 16:19
O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, And my refuge in the day of distress, To You the nations will come From the ends of the earth and say, “Our … (4 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: We Are Never Taller Than When Standing On Our Knees - 04/25/13 12:28 PM
I haven't seen the movie 42 and probably won't. I know the story well enough, but this was a nice new slant to it  I thought I'd share. It raises a very good question. - Bob
Religion: Inside the soul of Jackie Robinson
Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey knew that the first black player in major league baseball was going to go through hell. — That's why the cigar-chomping, Bible-thumping Rickey set out to find a man who would keep believing -- when facing bitter, scathing racial hatred -- that the powers of heaven were on his side. As baseball … (3 comments)

Phil Robertson, one of the shaggy-bearded stars of the hit reality TV series "Duck Dynasty," used to get mistaken for a homeless man. He said he was even singled out once at an airport for a security search and wands went "places my woman hasn't been in years."
These days, though, the patriarch … (7 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: What Do We Stand For? - 04/02/13 09:21 AM
As Christians today, the world has no problem knowing what we stand against. Gay marriage, gay boy scouts, gun laws, drugs, alcohol, gambling, dancing, sex, liberal politicians... you name it and we're against it. Because of how vocal we are about things we're against, the world only seems to know and remember just that. I think it's time we shut down the vociferous challenges to what we see is wrong with the world and start standing up for what we stand for. After all, these things shall pass and can be taken down by prayer and fasting, they shouldn't affect who … (5 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Borderline High Blood Pressure? - 03/27/13 07:42 AM
For years now, I've heard from anyone who has ever taken my blood pressure that I should seek medical attention for it. It started with my last physical which was my last... about 15 years ago. When we used to believe in insurance, the nurse would come by and it was always the same thing... bordering on hypertension. Every time I go to the Dentist, "Did you have a lot of caffeine this morning?" No I just run a little hot Doc.
The first doctor who told me back when I was 40 gave me some free samples of drugs. It … (10 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: We Have Great Hope For America - 03/25/13 09:24 AM
When I listen to people talk about America and her future, most I hear, are dismal at best. And I'm talking about good Christian people, my heathen, non-believing friends have more hope and encouraging words to say about our future than my Christian friends do. This is mind boggling to me and Bonnie. We serve the Hope of Israel, the greatest King to ever reign or will ever reign. We should have hope! We should be the beacon of hope!
Have you ever heard it said that if God doesn't judge (punish) America that He'll have to apologize to Sodom and … (5 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Things I Don't Miss About Listing and Selling Real Estate - 03/22/13 07:59 AM
Since I've spent the last 16 years helping others list and sell and I haven't been an active Realtor for as long, I was just remembering all the things I really didn't like about being a Realtor. Just a trip down memory lane... see if any of these rings a bell with you. I know there are many who absolutely love being a Realtor and that is good. I was not one, it wasn't a good fit for my personality but I wrestled with it for over 8 years before the opportunity to buy our Homes and Land magazine came along.

homes and land of lancaster county: The Bible on History Channel - 03/12/13 07:45 AM
I hope and pray that the numbers for The Bible on History Channel keep growing and keep exceeding expectations. I saw the first two episodes and it's second to none visually speaking. The first installment garnered over 13 million viewers and many I'm sure really don't know many of these stories. It was the top rated show of any network including the big 4. I applaud Mark Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey for putting such an effort forth.
I have only one wish further than having many people exposed to the living Word and that would be accuracy. There are … (9 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: The Greatest Enemy We Face - FEAR - 03/02/13 07:03 AM
When we turn on any media these days we are inundated with one thing. That is the greatest motivator we all know in our world today, FEAR. It is our greatest enemy. But it is the most unfounded thing in our lives. It is a creation of hell and it's a direct highway to hell in our lives. I was thinking about this age old nemesis as I reluctantly turned on a newscast yesterday. SEQUESTRATION! Oh no, what's it mean to me? That was what they were asking me. I don't know and I really don't care. The lack of planning … (9 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Just Married- Beginning a new fairy tale - 02/25/13 06:49 AM
It was a searing, sunny day on August 9th, 1989 and as dusk fell on little Blake's bedroom, the party and birthday cake, candles and presents were now just memories bouncing around in his head. He smiled as he slept dreaming about his special day and all the while, little did he know that God was introducing his future bride to the world half a country away as he fell asleep.
The long awaited entrance of Gretchen Alexis Horning came late, she took her time, as is her style and overstayed her welcome in the womb by 2 weeks. Her delivery was a bit … (4 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Treasure found in a CVS - 01/28/13 11:37 AM
We heard a story the other week that I'd like to share. There is a family in our church who lost their beloved wife/mother to breast cancer about 4 years ago now. She opted for spiritual healing and not chemo for reasons I won't go into here and partly because I do not remember all the facts. She didn't receive the healing she sought right up until her last breath. We were privileged to have spent a couple hours with her at Hospice the day before she went home.
This story starts with their eldest son of 11 years old. He … (2 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Why Do We Tolerate Evil? - 01/04/13 08:23 AM
I was just trying to enjoy the last Packer game of the season and I'm hit with a commercial for some new show coming to Fox. The last person on the ad said and I quote, "It's deliciously evil." I tried so hard not to pay attention and had turned my focus off of the TV awaiting the game to return when this really turned my head. The reason my head was turned was because of all the violence they were showing that was part of this new show coming out. But hearing someone exhort how deliciously evil this show will … (13 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: The Worst Tragedy in History? - 12/20/12 07:14 AM
I have been mostly silent over the tragic event at Sandy Hook Elementary since it happened. I've heard so many opinions over the last week and didn't think it was necessary to add to the fray. I do now, after hearing a reporter saying this is the worst tragedy in history. Evil, notorious, despicable yes, but the worst?
First I'd like to preface this post by saying my heart goes out to all who are affected by this and I echo their cries with my sympathy. Our prayer is for comfort and mourning for all the families touched by this evil. … (4 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Your Appointment Still Awaits You - 11/09/12 12:29 PM
Appointed TimesIn spite of escalating turmoil in our world, and failed hopes for presidential elections in the USA, there still remains one last, great outpouring of mercy before the time of the end (see Matt. 24:14; Acts 2:17). This supernatural season is not something for which we must beg God. No, its coming has been predetermined. It is the "appointed time" of the Lord.As most know, an "appointed time" is an open display of the sovereignty and power of God, whether it is in calling a person or calling a nation. In it we discover with absolute certainty that nothing is … (4 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: God's Bigger Picture Of Hope - 11/07/12 11:48 AM
I ran into a lot of long faces today. I was asked, "Aren't you depressed?" I said certainly not. My hope is in the Lord and not a man in the Oval Office. I would never mistake the two. So when I read this today, I knew I had to share...

God's Bigger Picture Of Hope In Disappointment             Hear God's Word for you in Isaiah 49:23. "Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who hope in me will not be disappointed." And Romans 12:12. "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."              Hope … (17 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Why Election Day is Always on a Tuesday - 11/06/12 07:37 AM
Have you ever wondered why Tuesday was picked as our election day? It was sometime in the mid 18th century that our leaders decided to make every Tuesday following the 1st Monday in November the official election day for several reasons. But the number one reason was this:
Sunday was considered a Holy day of worship and that was out. Since the majority of citizens not living in cities were farmers, then needed to wait until harvest season would be finished so it wouldn't be a hardship to vote for any of them. Back in the mid 19th century and for … (9 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: This Voice Still Commands Respect and Response - 10/26/12 07:35 AM
Billy Graham has avoided any input on political matters for over 70 years. When pushed in the past he simply avoids answering what he thought politically. I think it speaks volumes to the importance of this current election that he would make a public opinion and spend the time, money and effort to make his and the Bible's viewpoint clear.

homes and land of lancaster county: The Biggest Mysteries of this Presidential Race - 10/24/12 07:51 AM
The few things that I feel should have made this election a slam dunk for Mitt Romney:
1. The whisper to Medvedev saying hang in there, that after the election the president will have more flexiblity. Add that to Putin openly endorsing the President should have been the kiss of death. Russia has opposed us in every single UN proposal and has stood with our enemies at every turn. Simply removing missles in Europe netted us nothing but more weakness.
2. Having both Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez openly endorse the president should be another kiss of death.
3. The … (16 comments)

homes and land of lancaster county: Harvard Ironies - 10/22/12 06:40 AM
After seeing the movie Monumental and learning about the early roots of America and the Pilgrims who first came and settled here, I came across this blog which I found very interesting. By the way, our current president was educated via Harvard.

homes and land of lancaster county: The Greatest Monument in America and we bet you've never heard of it. - 10/19/12 01:39 PM
It is called the Monument to our Forefathers or the Monument to the Pilgrims. It stands as the tallest single piece of granite monument in the world at 81 feet. It was commissioned by our federal government, paid for by taxpayers without any argument whatsoever. It was meant to stand as a testament of what we are founded on and as a beacon for finding our way back should we ever stray from the course. It is our belief that it is there for such a time as this. We plan on visiting this monument sometime in the very near future.
