ranch: Price, Presentation and MARKETING to SELL Your Home - 11/18/11 02:33 AM
Price - Yes you must price your home properly to move it. An overpriced home will set! Real estate agents hear this all the time, "Let's just price the home high and see if there is anyone that just falls in love with it."  The reality is in the numbers!

Presentation - Want a Realtor to list your home? OK, get it clean, de clutered and ready to show. When your Real Estate agent comes to the listing presentation they are interviewing the Seller as well as being interviewed. That is if they are a good agent. Show them you … (0 comments)

ranch: Small Ranch Teton Valley, Victor Idaho - 03/01/11 01:37 AM
What constitutes a ranch? Some would say I have a small ranch here in Teton Valley. I guess a ranch is a property used for cattle production, although for me it takes a while to trot across a ranch. Size Matters? (foal born at home 2009)

We live in Victor Idaho and have had a few cows on the place. I really like calving at home where the family can share in the experience. We only have an 8 acre piece and I do not go around calling it a Ranch, but for some that visit from other parts … (5 comments)

ranch: Brangus Cattle Background Information - 01/05/10 03:02 PM
The Brangus breed was developed to utilize the superior traits of Angus and Brahman cattle. Their genetics are stabilized at 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Angus.
The combination results in a breed which unites the traits of two highly successful parent breeds. The Brahman, through rigorous natural selection, developed disease resistance, overall hardiness and outstanding maternal instincts. Angus are known for their superior carcass qualities. They are also extremely functional females which excel in both fertility and milking ability.
From a ranch kids (40 now, but still a kid at heart) perspective these cattle get around better in the rough Arizona desert … (4 comments)

ranch: Rough Trail on a Rough Ranch - 01/05/10 02:12 PM
Helping these old boys (ok, so my brother Wesley is only nearly 50) on old horses move a few head we rode a rough trail on this Rough Ranch. These horses may be old, I think Sunny is 28, but sure footed they are. When I am old I hope I still have a job to do! Here are a few pictures of the "Trail", if you have a hard time seeing exactly where the trail is, don't worry, I was there riding it and was not sure as my horse where the trail was. They say a picture is worth … (0 comments)

ranch: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne - 12/07/09 03:03 AM
I have read the Secret by Rhonda Byrne, what a great book. What amazes me is how many of the ideas and thoughts from the book were shared to me by my dad (whom had not read the book) while we were bumping along in the water truck, drying our horses backs at a spring during a ride, or chopping firewood. During all these ranch chores (in Arizona) although I did not realize at the time he was teaching me the secrets of life, how to be a dad and husband, and how to be successful in business. My dad, the … (2 comments)

For those of you that did not see the outside kitchen blog, here is the picture again of our kitchen when we moved to northern Arizona.

Then I thought it only fair to show our first kitchen upgrade. I think by winter the second year we had this kitchen closed in.

The year was 1981. I wonder if I was the photographer?

ranch: Victor Idaho man recalls Mountain Lion Hunt - 10/07/09 02:22 AM
It was the first snow of the year and a big storm for Northern Arizona. I had gotten these plastic skis from the thrift store; I fastened these to my boots and was off down the hill. It was really more like snow shoeing, but where the mountain was steep I would kind of slide. A half mile from the house and snow shoeing in plastic skis was getting old. All of a sudden my dogs started going crazy, I turned to face the commotion and out of the jack oak jumped a Mountain Lion. He stopped in his tracks, now … (0 comments)
