Finding products from the Balkans in a multicultural Chicago is not that difficult. Being from the restaurant family I'm always happy to try something new, especially if there is a great product that is in a way connected to my roots. 
Not too long ago I was visiting my family in Slovenia and they had to pack some home goods. The only liquid thing that I took was home made olive oil from Slovenian Istria and Grappa. Slivovtz from Bosnia was available but not to my liking. Some great ideas for next blog posts.

There is a movie set in Glenview, IL this week.  “Contagion,” an action-thriller directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh with Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotlliard, Jude Law and Laurence Fishburne starring. Will any of the locals be surprised by a star sighting?
Few other movies filmed near by:
The Weather Man (Skokie, Evanston) with Nicolas Cage and Derailed with Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston were fillmed in 2005.
Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan had one scene filmed at Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie.

Recently I started using FourSquare and I find it fun and addictive. It's like a game. It's fun collecting badges and trying to become "the mayor" of a local place. Some comments on the inter web are: " why ? ... I don't get it " . Don't we always ask our friends about a good restaurant, any local tips or suggestions?
I do only few tweets per day. With a touch of a screen I can share my location on Twitter and Facebook.

Coyotes were once rare in Chicago-land. Now we have more coyotes in urban areas near fields and wild areas.
One of the newsletters I read is cautioning us how to live peaceably with our wild coyote neighbors. Here are some cautions, preparations and links.

Every time that I have visitors from out of town, I have to show them Baha'i Temple located on Chicago's North Shore in Wilmette.

The architecture is absolutely stunning. You would think, because it is a religious building that you would not be welcome unless you were a member. There is a visitor center on the bottom level.  There are several of these in the world and this is the only one, right here in our backyard, in the USA.
