Year-to date dollar volume is already the highest achieved in WinnipegREALTORS® 108-year history with $2.67 billion dollars worth of MLS® sales. October 2011 helped get the fourth quarter off to a great start with everything up in double-digit percentages. New listings rose 11%, sales were ahead by 13% and dollar volume reached 20%. WINNIPEG – Balmy summer weather in September created summer-like real estate market activity which led to a third consecutive month of over 1200 MLS® housing unit sales. As a result, it makes September 2011 WinnipegREALTORS® best September in 108 years. September 2010 was the previous best September on record. September MLS® housing unit sales increased 6% (1,214/1,142) while dollar volume rose 12% ($278.4 million/$248.0 million) in comparison to the same month a year ago. Year-to-date MLS® sales are up 6% (10,410/ 9,805) while dollar volume has increased 11% ($2.42 billion/$2.18 billion) in comparison to the same period last year. Two (2 comments)

The average residential-detached sales price in June of $258,275 was up 3% over the same month last year while the average condominium price of $201,642 increased 7% over June 2010.4 out of 5 new listings sold and nearly half of the entire MLS® inventory turned over.June MLS® unit sales increased 6% (1,516/1,432) while dollar volume rose 12% ($367.9 million/$329.2 million) in comparison to the same month last year. WINNIPEG – The first quarter was outstanding as it edged out the best first quarter ever in 2007 with over 2,500 in MLS® sales and $570 million in dollar volume (no previous first quarter has eclipsed one-half a billion dollars before). March MLS® sales came close to 1,200 while dollar volume was at $275 million. This result is clearly more spring-like in activity so whatever winter weather prevailed in March it did not stop buyers from completing transactions. In fact, the equivalent of 73% or nearly 3 out of 4 new listings were sold in March and 46% of the active MLS® (1 comments)

WINNIPEG - If this was an election it would be too close to call. On the final stretch drive with two months to go it is a dead heat in terms of MLS® sales compared to last year. There are only 28 more MLS® sales in 2010. However dollar volume is a different story. It is up 10% in comparison to 2009 and while sales do drop off at year end there should be no doubt WinnipegREALTORS® will set its 10th consecutive annual MLS® dollar volume record in 2010. 2001 finished with a dollar volume level just shy of the $1 (0 comments)

WinnipegREALTORS® MLS® stats for July. With the weather way better than last July ... and maybe people thinking more about some sun, sand and surf rather than listing and selling - the numbers don't look all that bad. And looking at year-to-date ... there are still positives in this more balanced - healthier market. In July, there were 3,191 listings actually available for buyers to see ... down just 17 properties from July of last year (3,208). The number of new listings added in July this year was 1587 ... just 95 shy of last year's 1,682. Sales were 178 fewer than (0 comments)

The Winnipeg housing market is looking up again for 2010 according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). CMHC predicts builders will pour 1,700 foundations for single detached homes in the Winnipeg area which is a 13 percent increase over the previous year. Canada's national housing agency predicts the New House Price Index in the Winnipeg area is expected to rise by 4 percent for both 2010 and 2011. This is low by historical standards considering 2007 had a 16 percent increase and 2008 had a 13 percent increase but higher than 2009's 2.5 percent increase. Over 2,000 Residential-Detached Listings Going Into June WINNIPEG - While no panacea for some homebuyers depending on the neighbourhood and price ranges they are searching for, the good news in May is WinnipegREALTORS®' MLS® residential-detached listing inventory is in better shape going into June than it has been in a long time. Moreover, a good influx of new listings in early June bodes well for a healthier supply in the summer months. The same holds true for condominiums. You have to go back to May 2001 when supply is comparable to this year with over 2,000 residential-detached listings. Contrast this total (0 comments)
