december challenge: December Challenge Day 31 - 12/31/11 09:48 AM
December Challenge Day 31
Today I finished all the items I had been working on yesterday. Details with the listing, pictures, paperwork. Between phone calls to Ohio and making arrangements for the trip north it's been a busy, busy day.
This time last year we were posting about the 31 Days of January Challenge where you had to write a post every day. Market Reports and Listings were limited.
I've had several people ask if we were going to do that again this year but I'm afraid with the work that December has created, I just don't have … (10 comments)

december challenge: December Challenge Day 30 The year in Review - 12/31/11 06:50 AM
December Challenge Day 30 The year in Review
It's always interesting to me to start the day with one list and finish totally different activities. I started with follow-up activities for yesterday's meeting and ended up listing a small condo on the east side of town.
The out of town buyer decided to wait until her next trip to look at neighborhoods since her house hadn't sold yet. That certainly worked for me.
We got a call mid-day from the Assisted Living facility where my father-in-law lives and they told us that they had ordered Hospice for him. … (8 comments)

I'm on a Roll Now - December Challenge Day 28
It's amazing how waking up to a clear blue sky motivates you to get things done!
I started with a brisk walk in the 30ish degree weather with a friend who's a neighbor and co-worker. It's wonderful working up a sweat when your nose is numb!
Did you know that you actually burn Brown Fat when it's that cold outside? That's the fat that surrounds your organs and keeps them warm. I don't know if it's true or not, but it was enough to keep us going for … (19 comments)

december challenge: December Challenge Day 27 - 12/27/11 09:21 AM
December Challenge Day 27
Today was a great day to spend working with prospects on line. I was mostly following up on the status of their Real Estate needs. There were several productive phone calls which should lead to some business in January.
Instead of focusing on the cold windy rain, I searched my email looking for lost leads and possible contacts and reaching out to them.
My friend Joe Kenny, up in Illinois, called with some tips on cleaning up my comments and home page. I didn't get a chance to call him back today to thank him, but … (6 comments)

december challenge: December Challenge 26 days with 5 to go! - 12/26/11 09:43 AM
December Challenge 26 days with 5 to go!
I worked on market reports today. I prepared the data and got one of the posts completed. Tomorrow I'll fine tune the others and get them posted too.
Today was kind of lazy. Still feeling relaxed from a great Christmas weekend. I've been trying to firm up lunch and dinner plans with old friends and clients.
My husband was supposed to go to Ohio to check on his father so I filled up my days with play-time. Now that he's not going, I'm reluctant to change all of the plans.

december challenge: December Challenge days 24 and 25 - 12/24/11 06:41 AM
December Challenge days 24 and 25
I have finally finished touching each and every kind soul who subscribes to my blog. I also stopped by a few who don't to also wish them a Merry Christmas. There were some great Christmas posts to read as I combed my friends' blogposts. The response have been great fun.
I challenge many of you to go read the people who read you.
Tomorrow is Christmas. What does one do to generate business on Christmas Day? I would think most things would seem a bit cheesy.
Hmmm. Hand out my business … (7 comments)

december challenge: December Challenge days 22 and 23 - 12/23/11 09:46 AM
December Challenge days 22 and 23
Yesterday started with me racing to the mall to make some returns. On my way I started my daily calls to my ActiveRain subscribers. I started with my friend Margaret Rome, who's always a delight to talk to.
When I got to the office I began sending Merry Christmas wishes to other subscribers in their comment section of their blogs. I met a client for lunch and we discussed business to conduct in 2012. Then back to the office where I finished my Christmas cards, finally, and continued to call and leave comments. … (14 comments)

december challenge: Is it Possible to Engage all of your Subscribers? - December Challenge - 12/21/11 08:52 AM
Is it Possible to Engage all of your Subscribers?
The Holidays are upon us and we're thinking of those who we love, or just friends we miss. We often reach out to people we haven't talked to in a while.
I was thinking of a blog post that Sheldon Neal did a few year ago. He actually went to each of his subscribers' blogs and left a comment. "Wow", I remember thinking.
So I'm asking myself, "Can't I do at least that?" Can't I call them and wish them a Merry Christmas? It seems to me that Margaret … (31 comments)

december challenge: December Challenge - 12/19/11 09:02 AM
Yesterday was a day of finishing unfinished tasks. Christmas shopping, wrapping and Christmas Cards. I'd like to say I finished them but there are still some more to get done.
Today I did get those that were done out in the mail, since I finally got some stamps!
I met with a Seller who is moving to Arizona in the Spring. We discussed a time line for putting the house on the market. I need to meet with her husband so he knows what all needs to be done to get the house ready for market.

december challenge: Christmas Card, Christmas Cards and More Christmas Cards! December Challenge - 12/17/11 09:26 AM
Christmas Card, Christmas Cards and More Christmas Cards! December Challenge
I'm not one to write Christmas letters. I don't always like reading about people and things that I don't know. But I didn't send out Christmas Cards last year and felt that there were a lot of things that people needed to know.
We moved, Jim's mom passed away, I changed companies and Jim's Dad finally moved to assisted living. The letter was short and sweet.
But dang if I didn't have problems first printing the address list and then the letters. How hard can these things be? … (8 comments)

2012 Business Plan using the Peace of Mind Square - December Challenge
Today was rainy and cold so as soon as I got into the office I started working on my 2012 Business Plan. I'd read Anna Banana's post on day 3 and went back to the beginning and learned how to use the Peace of Mind Square.

The new year is just 15 days away and there's a lot of work to do. The December Challenge is making me focus on my Business but I think working on my Business plan, incorporated into the challenge, will be … (12 comments)

Generating Facebook Leads
My First RainCamp Online Today!
Wow, I knew there would be a lot of information but...
Debe, (the famous Debe Maxwell, and my dear friend) before I even start, your segment rocked! You've motivated me to do a Wordpress site.
So it's not that I didn't learn anything, it's that I couldn't explain what I learned if I wanted!
What I really got out of today was Generating Leads from Facebook by Chris Alston. Chris broke it down into 12 easy steps.
I'm going to recap some of it for you the best … (11 comments)

december challenge: The Day is Getting Away, Have I completed my "To Do" List? - December Challenge - 12/13/11 08:34 AM
The Day is Getting Away, Have I completed my "To Do" List?
I just received a response email from a good friend. We've been working on a project in different cities. Nothing rushed mind you, but I could almost hear the panic in her "voice":
"I'm in pretty good shape for Christmas but I realized today how close it is and if I don't finish up I'll be in panic mode!!!"
My first thought was "Well me too!" I was actually thinking about going home early. It's damp and cold outside. I'm feeling lazy.
I've been working on … (7 comments)

december challenge: 2011 December Blogging Challenge - Day 11 Recap - 12/11/11 09:56 AM
2011 December Blogging Challenge - Day 11 Recap
The pain in my back is finally letting up and I've been able to address a good many envelopes. I had finished the Christmas Letter but it laying on my desk at the office. I don't have stamps yet so I guess that will be part of tomorrow's project.
I listened to a webinar that I had saved on my computer. It motivated me to finish this year strong. I've got to focus on the rest of my blogging this week, market reports and such.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Days 9 and 10 Recap
Friday flew by with barely time to hear myself think. Thankfully I had my phone log in the car with me and I could make my calls as I rushed from teaching ESL at Church to my next two non-work related appointments.
Today I was able to finally get my Christmas labels printed so I could work on the Christmas Cards. With the letter written and printed, I'm will on my way to get this project done. I'm still struggling with pain in my back and it makes getting … (0 comments)

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Day 8 Recap
Yesterday was so crazy I left my Recap post in the Draft mode and never posted it!
Yikes! TGIF!
Oops no it's just Thursday!
I finally got the Christmas Letter written and saved. I'm hand addressing the envelopes this year so I got a few more of them done.
I've been home working with a pinched nerve in my back. Thankfully one can get a lot done on a laptop! Isn't it great when prospects don't know you're emailing them from the couch! LOL

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Day 7 Recap What a day.
Trying, without success to print labels for the Christmas mailing. I wasn't going to actually use labels, but I like to print the contact list in that format so that I write the names and addresses correctly. I couldn't make it happen.
I think that when things go wrong with my technology is absolutely the most frustrating thing in the world.
My Buyer referral has decided to rent and I spent hours searching for the right property for her. I don't mind, but renters don't always realize … (1 comments)

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Day 6 Recap
What a day of running around with out of town people who are considering moving to Tennessee. Not sure if it was productive or not, but if they don't see the town, how can they like it? Nashville is very different than what many out of towners expect. We're more like a huge town with a small City center, unless your near the University.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Day 5 Recap
Today was filled with working on Localism Blogs for the Nashville Public. One of the Free Christmas Events posts actually got a comment from someone who just moved to the area and was happy to see that I told her about local events!
I have several people looking to move here in the next few months and spent a lot of time sending them properties. Also might have a new referral from one of my calls today!
WooHoo!

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Days 3 and 4
Since we're gearing up for this Challenge still, I spent several hours both yesterday and today reading and making notes on a new Marketing book that I picked up to help me with my 2012 goals and Business Planning.
The beautiful thing about taking the time to read this in a relaxed fashion is that it's gotten me really excited about getting into the office on Monday and starting to implement some of the things that I learned. That's a whole other blog post.
I was also able to finish … (7 comments)
