Can a real estate agent really get 26% more for a home than a private seller? This is a claim that a realtor made in a post on his blog. On September 18 we posted a comment on the agents post. We asked for verification of this statement so we could read the article. Here is our request. There is a post on Activerain where the blogger claims that a real estate agent will get about 26% more for a house than the For Sale By Owner seller will. Lets do some math. Real estate agents tell private sellers they cannot sell their own home. They won't market the property effectively. Owners need a professional experienced in promoting their sale. Here is an ad that is currently on a classified website. We have changed the name of the agent and broker to protect the guilty. There are no pictures of the home in the ad. 4bd detached home available for reasonable price in north ajax call for viewing at ‘salespersons first name' ( salesperson, ‘name of real estate brokerage') 905-XXX-XXXX In an attempt to protect their industry, realtors discredit for sale by owner companies.
