NASCAR NATION: Tailspins at Talladega - 04/28/10 10:39 PM
Sorry for the delay in writing this NASCAR recap. But, whew, what a race! The tailspins in Talladega were the stuff of legends and the finish was a sight to behold. Since Saturday was rained out, there was no practice session for the Sprint Cup guys. They lined up according to points to start the day at Talladega, with Jimmie Johnson leading the charge. The first caution of the day was a competition caution at Lap 21 so everyone could check out the car after sitting since Friday. The two-car breakaway took precidence all day as we saw a record 88 (2 comments)
Today is My New Year - 04/27/10 10:52 PM
Life seems to have gotten in the way of my blogging lately. It happens. I've been so busy helping my clients with their businesses (thank goodness) that I seem to have severely limited my playtime in the Rain. When I logged in tonight and saw that the illustrious Todd Clark has reached a million points, I decided that I needed to pull on my galoshes and raincoat and really get my feet wet in the Rain again. So, I'm back! I've been reading some fantastic articles about some great things that I really must share. I have only made the time (13 comments)
NASCAR NATION: Shootout at Texas Motor Speedway - 04/20/10 09:25 AM
It was a shootout at Texas Motor Speedway yesterday. It was definitely worth a one day delay if this is what we got! The entire weekend was rained out, so both the Sprint Cup race and Nationwide had to be run on Monday instead of Saturday and Sunday. Finally, Jeff Gordon was the agressive, drive to the front guy we haven't seen in a while. He was dominant for most of the day, leading the most laps of all the drivers at the Sprint Cup race. As a Gordon fan, I was so excited thinking, "This is it! He's gonna win (5 comments)

Richard Petty Motorsports just announced today that the driver of its #9 Budweiser will not be returning to race under the RPM banner next year. Instead, Kasey Kahne has signed on to the 2012 season with Hendrick Motorsports. Since all four Hendrick drivers are signed until 2012, that means that there will be no opening for Kasey on their team next year. Where will he go? Kasey is remaining mum on the subject. It appears that he will be helming the #5, which would mean that Mark Martin looks to actually be retiring for real after the end of the (5 comments)
My first year of college in 1988, I worked part-time in an office that was located nearby. I had saved enough money to purchase an expensive bottle of perfume that my mother had wanted at Christmas. I was prepared to spend $200 of my hard-earned money on one little bottle of the stuff. I was so proud. I walked into the perfume department of a major department store and proceeded to wait for 40 minutes while the ladies behind on the counter sat and chatted with each other, sending me the "what are YOU doing here" glances every so often (19 comments)
Trouble Adding Video to Your Active Rain Profile? - 04/01/10 01:08 PM
Are you having trouble adding video to your Active Rain profile? Adding video to blogs is pretty simple (thank you, James Shiner). Adding them to your nav bar is realtively stress-free, just needs a little tweaking of the embed code. And even adding videos to your comments is quite easy (thanks, Active Brad and Jeremy Blanton). So, adding a video to your Active Rain profile should take no time at all, right? Well, imagine my surprise when I tried adding video to a client's profile and got the dreaded little white box with a red X in it. Noooooo!!! What am (9 comments)
Have you Topeka'd Today - Google is No More - 04/01/10 09:22 AM
Have you Topeka'd today? Google was so honored when the mayor of Topeka, Kansas announced last month that the city's name would be changed to "Google, KS" that they decided to change the name of its company to Topeka. Somehow, it's just not the same to "Topeka" instead of "Google". And, does this now mean we have to strive for more "Topeka juice"? That just sounds nasty! And now we have to use Topeka Maps to find the locations of cities, businesses, etc, Topeka Bookmarks to tag our favorite sites, Topeka News to find out what's going on in the world (12 comments)
Unlike Chocolate, Blogs Last Forever! - 04/01/10 08:52 AM
Unlike chocolate, blogs last forever on the internet. I recently received a comment on a post from March 2009, shortly after starting here in the Rain. When I saw the "comment on your blog" notice, I didn't recognize the title of the blog post it was referring to. So, I clicked on the link and, lo and behold, it took me back in time to March 2009. In fact, the post that received the comment was a reblog of another post here in the Rain on widgets. Very interesting. So, whey did this person choose this particular post to comment on? First Sundays at the Riverside Art Museum - 04/01/10 12:49 AM
The Riverside Art Museum offers a fun, free program for children and adults called "First Sundays". Held on, you guessed it, the first Sunday of the month, families can participate in art, music, science and more at the Riverside Art Museum, located at 3425 Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside, CA. The next First Sunday will be held on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010, from 1-4pm. There will be cultural activities for everyone to enjoy and the museum fills both the lawn and the lobby with great works of art. I'm going to mark my calendar to make sure I don't miss (0 comments)
