active rain: Today is My New Year - 04/27/10 10:52 PM
Life seems to have gotten in the way of my blogging lately.  It happens.  I've been so busy helping my clients with their businesses (thank goodness) that I seem to have severely limited my playtime in the Rain.  When I logged in tonight and saw that the illustrious Todd Clark has reached a million points, I decided that I needed to pull on my galoshes and raincoat and really get my feet wet in the Rain again.  So, I'm back!  I've been reading some fantastic articles about some great things that I really must share.  I have only made the time … (13 comments)

active rain: Doin' the Snoopy Dance: I Hit 100K Points Today! - 09/18/09 07:34 AM
I'm SO doin' the Snoopy Dance right now.  After 7 months, 195 posts (today's makes 196), 2885 comments made, 2667 comments received, 51 blog subscribers, 66 associations, creating 1 group, inviting 1 member to join, 1 featured post and 1 Active Rain workshop, I am please to announce that:
I hit 100,000 points today!
Start the music, Schroeder:

The points are great, but they are not the only reason I am doin' the Snoopy Dance.  OK, the points are fabulous for a competitive soul like myself.  I have to admit...I've wanted that little black box at the bottom of my … (54 comments)

active rain: Paying It Forward - 09/08/09 11:38 AM
I consider paying it forward to be one of Active Rain's biggest assets.  At the Active Rain workshop last week, Brad Andersohn talked about how he had gone through a toll booth and paid an extra $5 to help pay for the tolls of people behind him.  He did this for no other reason than he wanted to do something nice and it was an easy, quick and simple way to do it, with no expectations of anything in return.  The next day, he went through the same toll booth with the same guy in it.  Even after hundreds and possibly … (16 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Workshop in Phoenix: The New Math - 09/03/09 03:45 PM
The first Active Rain workshop held in Phoenix AZ yesterday was quite an event.  If you didn't attend, you missed a good time.  The most important thing I learned was the AR New Math:
14 hrs of driving + 2 Active Rain Gurus + 1 Banana + 1 Cosmic Cow Pie = 1 Heckuva Good Time!
Even though he was so flustered with the fact that his computer went ka-blooey just a few days before leaving to speak at the first AR workshop that he forgot to pack socks, Bob Stewart started the show with some words of wisdom of how … (6 comments)

active rain: Widgets – Are There Limits? - 03/08/09 11:09 PM

Pamela Cendejas wrote this great blog about widgets.  It's worth taking a peek!  Let me know what you think about whether there is a limit to how many widgets you should use on your blog and when it becomes too much!
Heather Chavez - Second Self Virtual Assistance: When There Just Isn't Enough of You to Go Around!

Via Pamela Cendejas (Second Self Virtual Assistance):
Widgets and WHAT they can do are limitless.  But HOW and WHERE you use them may not be.  Various web-hosted sites and blogs may have restrictions as to what widgets you can use and/or their … (8 comments)

active rain: I Think I'm Addicted - 02/27/09 10:42 AM
Hi.  My name is Heather Chavez and I am an Active Rain Addict.  (Altogether now: "Hi, Heather").  What is wrong with me?  I wake up early in the morning with ideas buzzing in my head about what to write.  I listen intently to the news, pay sharper attention to my surroundings and keep an eye out for something...anything...that will catch my attention and be the topic for my next blog (which absolutely, positively HAS to be there everyday).  My habit began honestly enough...writing blogs for clients by perusing local news items and gathering information about the real estate market.  Then, I … (13 comments)

active rain: I'm a Raining Newbie - 02/11/09 07:47 PM
This is my first blog so, be gentle.  Gulp!  After writing blogs for so many of my clients, I decided that I had something to say (or, at least, I think I will in the future, possibly).  I also felt the need to be involved in the Active Rain community for myself.  I have read so many of your great blogs and wanted to lend my voice to the general consensus.  So, any pointers, help, advice, needling you think will help me be successful is greatly appreciated.  I look forward to talking to you and with you soon.
Thanks for letting … (23 comments)
