real estate virtual assistant: Movie Review Monday: Bridesmaids - 05/16/11 10:31 AM
I am a HUGE movie-lover.  Always have been.  I love all kinds of movies: comedies, chick-flicks, romance, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, horror...you name it, I probably like it.  It gives you a much broader base of entertainment that way.  I'm the same way with music.  In fact, a typical weekend involves at least one movie but usually a few more than that.  In that vein, I thought I'd start writing a regular feature called Movie Review Monday.  For my first Movie Review Monday, I thought I'd write about "Bridesmaids".
Co-written by and starring Kirsten Wiig (Saturday Night Live's Suzie Orman, Gillie … (4 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: Motivational Monday: Three Sides of the Coin - 05/09/11 04:14 AM
You've most likely heard the phrase "two sides of a coin", meaning there are two sides to every argument.  Well, I say there are actually three sides of the coin: my side, your side and the truth.  Everyone's opinion is a culmination of their past experiences, present situation and the frame of mind they are in at the time.  My truth is not the same as your truth.  However, your point can feel just as valid to you as my point is to me.  The trick to resolving any problem is to listen to the other side's argument, give your side … (17 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: My Spring Garden - 04/14/11 04:47 AM
It's that time of year, people.  Time to get your spring garden in order if you're willing.  This year, my husband and I have been toying with the idea of actually starting one up.  It's in an effort to be healthier to our waistlines as well as our pocketbooks, since groceries are getting so high.  I'm not sure what to plant, though.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what is good to plant for newbies, such as myself and tips on how to keep up a small household garden?  I'd love to hear from you.

real estate virtual assistant: Boise's Own Roller Derby - 04/05/11 10:18 AM
I have been a fan of roller skating since I was a kid.  I even tried to teach my mom when I was 11, but I couldn't get her to let go of the chainlink fence (some people just can't be taught).  The Drew Barrymore film "Whip It" renewed my interest in checking out roller derbies.  Imagine my giddiness when I saw a billboard ad for the Treasure Valley Rollergirls, Boise's own roller derby team.  Of course, I rushed to get my tickets.  They will be taking on the Salt City Shakers (from Salt Lake City) and the Southern Oregon Rollergirls … (6 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: Mixing it Up in Martinsville - 04/04/11 09:24 AM
Yesterday's NASCAR race was at the half-mile Martinsville track and the boys really did mix it up.  There was a lot of talk by drivers about tire wear before the race.  However, that didn't seem to be a real issue during the race itself.  As is typical at these short tracks, you need to be out front to dominate.  Pole-sitter Jamie McMurray (#1) kept the lead for the first 30 laps or so, when Ryan Newman (#39) briefly took over before Denny Hamlin (#11) blew by them both on Lap 35.  The Hendricks boys (#5, #24, #48 & #88) seemed to … (3 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: Sometimes Life Gets in the Way of Blogging - 03/22/11 10:35 AM
I had made a New Year's resolution to post one blog post a day.  And I had kept that promise up the end of February.  That's when I got derailed.  My life got in the way of my blogging.  First, I got a part-time job at night that ate up much of my free time during the week.  And then, three weeks ago, we were out with our family, celebrating my 18th wedding anniversary, when my mother-in-law had to be taken to the hospital after complaining of chest and back pains.  Fast forward four days and she had open heart surgery … (12 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: NASCAR NATION: Dry Spell Ends in the Desert - 02/27/11 12:06 PM
I was at the hospital earlier today with a family member so I was unable to watch the entire race.  But, I was so happy that I got to see the end of NASCAR's Sprint Cup race in Phoenix this afternoon when, after a long 66 winless streak, Jeff Gordon was able to end his dry spell in the desert.  He was declared the winner of the Subway Fresh Fit 500.  Congratulations to Jeff, new crew chief Alan Gustafson, the entire Drive to End Hunger team and Mr. Rick Hendricks for mixing it up enough to breathe new life into the … (5 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: Record-Breaking at Daytona 500 - 02/21/11 10:41 AM
What a way to start the year, folks!  There's a REASON fans and drivers alike love Daytona.  There were 74 lead changes, 22 different leaders and a whopping 16 cautions brought out during the 200 laps.  But, the biggest surprising record-breaker was the winner, Trevor Bayne.  Driving the #21 for the Wood Brothers, Trevor became the youngest driver to ever win the Daytona 500, besting previous record holder Jeff Gordon by more than 5 years.  In fact, Trevor just turned 20 on Februray 19th (the day before the race).
Trevor's amazing skills as a "pusher" in the "it takes two to … (6 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: Tag! I'm It! - 02/03/11 11:16 AM
After two years here on Active Rain, I finally got tagged for a MeMe.  Thanks, Tammy Lankford!  I don't know why, but this actually made me a little giddy.  I've seen them going around for others and now I feel like I've been asked to join in Active Rain-deer games.
Here are the MeMe Rules (please paste the following paragraph into your post if you are tagged):

real estate virtual assistant: And the Dog Ain't Happy About it Either - 01/11/11 01:55 AM
About 2 and a half months ago, my little family uprooted itself from Southern California to Idaho to be near my husband's family.  Southern California is the only place my son has ever lived.  I was born there, moved away as a kid and spent the last 25 years there again.  So, it made me giggle when one of my friends in Southern California wrote on her Facebook page that she was so happy to get her furnace replaced (finally!) because it was so cold there.  I, of course, had to comment that it was a whopping 18 degrees where I … (15 comments)

January 13Make Your Dream Come True Day (Finally!)International Skeptics Day (I don't know about this one.  Is it a REAL holiday?)
January 14Dress Up Your Pet Day (OK. My dog wears a hoodie but that's only because it's freakin' COLD here! Don't judge.)
January 15National Hat Day (I wear many hats everyday)

real estate virtual assistant: I'm a Little Teapot - 01/09/11 03:24 PM
I'm a little teapot short and stout,Here is my handle, here is my spout,When I get all steamed up hear me shout,Tip me over and pour me out.

I am not much of a coffee drinker because it never tastes as good as it smells unless you put a ton of stuff in it.  Too much work, I think.  I do, however, love hot tea, especial hot green tea on a cold winter day.  My in-laws gave me this cool little glass teapot with green tea that turns into a flower when it is brewed.  Seriously!  That's a real flower … (10 comments)

real estate virtual assistant: A Watermelon Has Many Uses - 11/17/10 09:28 AM
Have you ever been to a family barbecue, eaten the ribs and chowed down on watermelon only to wonder what you should do with the leftover rind?  A baby chair!

While, perhaps not as stylish as Fischer Price or even Graco, in these tough economic times, parents have to get inventive!  And, if your family barbecues are anything like mine, the vodka can act as an anesthetic when the baby decides to use it as their own personal teething ring.  See, even babies can multi-task! real estate virtual assistant: Smarty-Pants Dance - 10/01/10 01:58 AM
I'm happy to say that I've had a pretty good week.  I've been troubleshooting and problem-solving all over the place.  Woo-hoo!  So, I have decided that I will be doing this every time I get an answer right, help someone out or do something that makes me realize my brain still works just fine, thank you.  I'll have fun AND get some exercise.  See?  Win-win!  If you ask me nice and I solve a problem for you, maybe I'll make a video of me doing the "Smarty-Pants Dance".  I don't promise it will be this cute, but, what the hell!

real estate virtual assistant: LOL Friday: A Cardiologist's Funeral - 09/24/10 02:55 AM
An acceptable reason to laugh at a funeral...   A very prestigious cardiologist died and was given a very elaborate funeral by the hospital he worked for most of his life.  A huge heart covered in flowers stood behind the casket during the service as all the doctors from the hospital sat in awe. Following the eulogy, the heart opened and the casket rolled inside.  The heart then closed, sealing the doctor in the beautiful heart forever.   At that point, one of the mourners just burst into laughter.  When all eyes stared at him, he said, 'I am so sorry, … (16 comments)
