virtual assistance: Can Droid Give the iPhone and Blackberry a Run for Their Money? - 05/21/10 01:30 AM
In addition to the Apple iPhone and RIM's Blackberry, Motorola decided to jump into the smart phone fray with their own version: the Droid. I'm sure you have seen the commercials: robots pushing buttons at rapid speed and then the one mechanized word you hear "DROID!" But can the Droid give the iPhone and Blackberry a run for their money? Droids come standard with high speed mobile browsing, ability to run several apps at one time, Google search by voice, a touch screen and a 5MP camera with DVD-quality video. Additionally, the Droids are preloaded with the Facebook, Google Maps, Google Search by Voice and YouTube, (7 comments)
virtual assistance: NASCAR NATION: M&M Owns the Monster Mile - 05/16/10 09:17 PM
Today, it appeared that M&M owned the Monster Mile. The "King", Richard Petty gave the "Gentlemen, start your engines" war cry at the beginning, which was appropriate since he was part of the inaugural inductees to the NASCAR Hall of Fame earlier this week in Charlotte, NC. And AJ Allmedinger made the crowd cheer with his STP retro paint scheme in honor of the King's old #43. At the Dover International Speedway, the Monster Mile was actually pretty tame. There weren't any big wrecks (which is good). There were a total of five cautions (most of which were incidents of single (8 comments)
virtual assistance: Sub Station - The BEST Sandwiches in Riverside CA - 05/15/10 09:08 PM
When my husband asked me where I wanted to go to eat lunch today, the first thing that popped into my head was Sub Station (3663 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA). If you're from the area, you are well aware of what Sub Station has to offer. If you're not, well, first I have to say "Sucks to be you." And then I would have to say that Sub Station has the BEST sandwiches in Riverside, CA. Dare I say, they have the best sandwiches in the county? Yes. I dare. In fact, I'll go even further to tell you (2 comments)

virtual assistance: I Was VA, When VA Wasn't Cool - 07/14/09 09:17 AM
You know that old Barbara Mandrell song that goes "I Was Country, When Country Wasn't Cool"? Well, I was a VA when being a VA wasn't cool. In fact, up until recently, when I said I was a virtual assistant, inevitably I would get the dead doll eye stare and the follow-up question: "A what?" Then, I would have to go through the whole long tedious explanation of what exactly a virtual assistant does. Try telling a a PhD how you work on clients' websites so that they rank higher up in a search of specific terms and you'll get the (7 comments)
virtual assistance: You Are Never REALLY Your Own Boss - 04/04/09 11:50 PM
Many people are under the misnomer that being self-employed means You are your own boss. While you are the boss of how many hours you put in a day, that is where it usually ends. You are never REALLY your own boss. There is always someone to answer to. Instead of having the one boss that orders you around in a traditional office, the self-employed tend to have several bosses (only we call them "clients") that tell us what to do, when to do it and how it needs to be done so that they are happy. That means exponentially more (27 comments)

Pamela Cendejas wrote an interesting and informative article about why you should use widgets on your blogs and websites. See if there is one that strikes your fancy. Heather Chavez - Second Self Virtual Assistance: When There Just Isn't Enough of You to Go Around!
Via Pamela Cendejas (Second Self Virtual Assistance): Widgets are a great marketing tool. Links and buttons work well, but widgets can enhance your sight, making it more visually effective as well as making your site more automated and user-friendly. Widgets can be fun or they can be practical. These on-screen tools may provide games, videos, (2 comments)
This is the reason I became a virtual assistant: my son, Christopher. This is him on his last birthday. Even though he is a teenager, we had a low-key birthday this year with just my husband (his father), my son and me. So, instead of a cake, I bought cupcakes. That's cookie monster he's giving the peace sign behind (or is it rabbit ears). Anyway, Chris is the reason I do what I do, make the decisions I make and live the life that I live. He is my one and only baby-love. Contact Heather Chavez & Second Self (20 comments)
virtual assistance: Happy Anniversary! - 02/20/09 10:31 AM
This post has absolutely nothing to do with real estate and is totally personal, but I had to post it anyway. Today is my 16th wedding anniversary. We were such babies when we go married. These are my absolute favorite photos of both me and my husband. He was very GQ, I must say. It rained that day. Everyone told me that rain was a sign of good luck. I don't know if they were afraid I would be upset with the rain or if it was something they were told. Didn't matter. I didn't care. We got married (12 comments)
