One of the things I love best about living in Hermosa Beach is that it truly has a small town feel and you simply can't help running into people you know. One of the more social events of the year is the St Patricks Day parade that runs down Pier Avenue. This year the sun came out, the wind died down and it was a perfect day for a parade (other than the construction on Pier Ave). One of the many reasons I live and work in Hermosa Beach is that I just love the beach. Hermosa Beach offers a wonderful smaller town feel in the middle of the big city with plenty of parks, beautiful weather and a beach that's wide enough to accomodate everyone....even on the busiest days.
Now I love summer with longer days, warmer weather (other than June gloom) and a little more time to spend with friends and family, but there's just something nice about the calmness that returns every September. It's hard not to sound like a snobby local, and the … (1 comments)

As a long time resident of Hermosa Beach, and a parent of two, schools are definitely important to me. But a recent experience made me realize just how important it is to others. I had a t-ball practice at Hermosa Valley earlier in the day and had forgotten something so I went to try to find it at 10:30 that night. I was a bit surprised (and just a bit frightened) to see a group of people in beach chairs, sleeping bags, and thermoses of coffee (I think). As a longtime resident of Hermosa Beach, it always pains me to see the old charming beach cottages get torn down and to watch the mansion that's soon to follow. I realize that as a realtor I should embrace this change and the increase in the values that go along with it, but I'm always sad to watch all of the reasons that Hermosa is so great slowly disappear.
