Here together with my Grandaughter is our first attempt at creating a video on Youtube. Together with all the production time we have about 1 hr into this first project. Let me know what you think. *********** Update ************ Where has all the time gone? It seems like forever since I last did this video. I have a new camera since then and have purchased 3 video editing programs none of which I would consider great and or easy to use. Hence the reason for this update. It is mostly about video platforms and recomendations for the Real Estate oriented individual

Often times I hear people exclaim when they have come to Portland for the first time " Wow I didn't know you had Tall Buildings here". Standing in Downtown Portland in the Center of Pioneer Court House Square. On South West Broadway in Downtown Portland. Looking to the North East from Portland Oregon's West Hills. From the Water Front in Portland Oregon Looking North towards the twin Towers of the Convention Center. From the East Bank of the Willamette River at Tight Shot West into Downtown Portland. move to portland: The Portland Oregon Sky is Falling - 12/27/07 10:34 PM
Its True its True its True. The Sky is falling. The real estate market in Portland is going in reverse. All of the terrible media reports are now confirmed. This is the worst thing ever. What we thought would never happen is now happening. The Market as we knew it is kaput. What is it you ask? Well it's the stats of course. Thats right the RMLS cumulative Market Stats. The stats for the November Real Estate Market in Greater Portland Oregon for the Last 12 months show the median price for a Portland Oregon Home only rose by 7%. Compare that to the

move to portland: Portland's Alberta Arts District Wall Murals - 12/23/07 10:36 PM
Do you live in a city that embraces local artists? Portland Oregon is just such a place. This detail of a wall mural in the Alberta Arts District of Portland is just one of many shining examples. The display fosters a sense of community and also helps to curtail graffiti taggers. The Alberta Arts Districthas become very popular over the last several years. In the mid 1990's I worked with several Contractors who bought homes in the area to rehab and resale. Returning those old turn of the century homes to a new state of grandeur has been quite emotionally rewarding.

move to portland: Portland Ore. Home Buyer's Andy and Dawn Hit Gold - 11/20/07 03:53 PM
What a wonderful afternoon it was shaping up to be. The sun was shining and all things appeared well with my then current group of Buyer's transactions. Thinking it could not get much better than this, my phone rang and it did. The call was from Andy and Dawn who were then living in Rhode Island. They had been contemplating a move to the Pacific Northwest and after doing a little cruising on the 'net they had come across several of my real estate blogs prompting them to give me a call. By the end of the call I had learned a lot about them and

move to portland: No Magic Bullets Against Greed - 11/18/07 02:16 PM
While cruising through the Blog Posts here on Active Rain I came across this Intriguing_Story from Activerainer Karen Monsour. Her post and question is a good one. But as I began writing the comment it soon got out of hand and control, length wise. Hence this post follows. Karen's Boyfriend gave her a chilling forecast and oppinion of the foreclosure market in Ft. Lauderdale and Broward County Florida. This according to Karen's story and in her Boyfriend's oppinion and experience as a Contractor and based on his conversations with several other investors working in the area. So Karen's question " What do you think will happen to the properties the investors

move to portland: Doom and Gloom or Huge Success - 11/03/07 09:07 PM
..............................................................HELLLLLLLLLLLLLP!................................................................... If you can't here the screams for help, perhaps it's because of all the complaining you've been doing. The Real Estate Market that we are experiencing is a natural part of Business. It is NOT NATURAL for Real Estate prices to escalate yearly in double digits. It is also NOT NATURAL for Seller's and Agent's to price properties at $25,000 TO $50,000 above market. If this is the kind of market you have been experiencing or even worse if this is the only kind of market you know, I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU! For you do not have a clue what the Real

move to portland: Never Guide With a Whip - 10/07/07 07:35 PM
It is not often as Real Estate Agents that we are afforded the opportunity to watch our peers work. Strange as it may seem there are as many ways to conduct business as there are practitioners. Even somewhat stranger, I would hazard to guess that most of us have received similar training in fact many of us have received that training from the same source. Yet we all seem to develop our own styles. This last week was an extremely busy week for me. I had a couple of closings and have been busy working with Buyer's. The week ended with 4 offers written and

move to portland: When is Perception NOT Reality ! - 08/07/07 09:38 AM
After a full weekend of previewing and showing homes to my new clients from out of town I am confident they truly are educated about our Portland Market. Portland Oregon has enjoyed and for the most part weathered the Real Estate market fairly well over the last 2 years. The Perception factor of course has not helped with all of that negative news being reported in some of the less fortunate market places. The inventory levels continue to rise and the number of pending and closed sales continue to slide down hill. All while property values continue to increase at a rough

move to portland: Activerain Referrals My Clients Needs are Met - 07/28/07 10:31 AM
I just love a success story. And this one is a Great one. As a Real Estate Broker working in the greater Portland Oregon Metro area it is always a joy to see peoples needs fulfilled. So often in this Real Estate market we here of the Tragic Story instead of the Success Story. A couple of months back I received an email generated from my Buyer's_Web_Site_&_MLS_Connection. The Buyer, Dawn thanked me for having such a great web site, allowing her to set her search parameters the way she liked it and the speed an accuracy by which the matches were sent to her. move to portland: Buyer's Don't Buy in a Buyer's Market - 06/29/07 10:56 AM
Yesterday while showing one of my Listings_For_Sale_in_Portland_Or the Buyer asked me " Do you think the Seller would be willing to take less "? Now I have answered this question thousands of times over the last 19+ years that I have been in business usually with a simple answer like" I don't make decisions for my Seller's ". However because of the tone in the Buyer's voice, a tone that gave me the impression that he deserved the reduction in price I asked " What causes you to ask that "? His straight up answer was " Because it's a Buyer's

move to portland: Face to Face vs Technology Partner or Adversary - 06/22/07 07:12 PM
It seems that not everyone understands my post about_how_technology_isolates_us_from_our_clients. At least from the comments that I have received. Believe me, I do like all your comments. I even like the comments that seem to somewhat disagree with me. Although I do not disagree with the comments. So now I have confused everyone. Let me try to explain what I mean. I truly love technology, as any one would know if you have read any of my articles like Technology_and_the_upward_slippery_slope a story about how I have always been on the side of technology, almost to where I am trapped in it. Or the article that I

move to portland: Are You Katie Couric - 06/14/07 05:29 PM
Every since CBS_News hired Anchor_Katie_Couric speculation rather she was right for the job or could even do the job has been bantered about the Media. The continued Katie_Couric_Controversy shows no sign of slowing down. Right for the Job or wrong for the Job is not the focus of this article. I wonder though how many of us are Katie Couric's. Do we often jump at the opportunity to take jobs that are over our heads or outside our true field of expertise. Certainly it is flattering to be considered by those around us who want so much to believe in our

move to portland: How Prepared Are You The Mind Set of a Go-Getter - 05/16/07 06:41 PM
How Prepared are You as a Real Estate Agent? Do you carry with you the necessary tools do you your job? We never know in this business when the need may arise and an opportunity may be lost. I will give you an example. On a damp Tuesday Morninga group of us were looking at all the new vacant land properties just outside of the city limits. Most of the parcels were fairly small and easy to get to. As we made our way up the single car road towards the 1/2 acre of ground a property coincidentally listed just the night before

move to portland: Portland Oregons Laurelhurst Park and Neighborhood - 05/01/07 09:26 PM
Portland Oregon sometimes called Bridge Town due to all of the bridges that cross the Willamette River separating East Portland from West Portland. Nestled between Mt._Tabor and the Willamette River on the East side is Beautiful Laurelhurst Park and Neighborhood. Laurelhurst is one of Portland's premier neighborhoods with elegant homes on beautiful tree lined streets and was once home to many of Portland's Early day Lumber Barron's. City Neighborhood map provided by Portland Online. Above Gateway to Laurelhurst Park. In Center of Laurelhurst Roundabout is Statue of Joan of Arc. Homes above are a tribute to the beauty and grace

move to portland: I Am Truly Mobile Are You ? - 04/27/07 12:27 AM
In an effort to be as mobile as practical I have set out on a campaign to both benefit me and my Clients. Up until this point I had a pretty good system working. I am an active Real Estate Broker affiliated with RE/MAX Preferred Inc. Realtors. The Company is located in a suburb of Portland Oregon. I am whats known as an Out-Of-Office Agent. That is I do not physically maintain an office space at my office. It was not just a cost savings decision that caused me to be and out-of-office agent. It was because I did not see the value. Having an
